As the others have stated, the key is to get Verizon to agree to recall the debt from the CA before you pay them.

Then the CA must remove themselves because they no longer have any authority to collect.

Then offer Verizon a PFD. If you are successful, that would also remove them, making it as though it never happened.

If they wont accept a PFD, you can consider still PIF and then later sending GW letters to ask them to delete it. If you dont think a GW letter campaign would work, then consider offering less than full, like 75% maybe. Or any other amount you are comfortable with.

There is always the chance for a GW campaign later, like in a year, to still work if it is less than full payment.

GL

Hey yall. I'm new here and had a quick question.

I switched cell companies from Verizon to Sprint (who was supposed to pay off my verizon). After 9 months of battling with Sprint they will not pay the full amount. I received a Collections notice from MRS BPO today for the Verizon account. I have the funds to pay it in full. What would be best for my credit report? MRS BPO is already showing on my EQ report.

The letter they sent is offering a settlement option or paying in full. Is this company known for accepting PFD letters? My mother said I should go to verizon and directly pay the bill and then dispute the MRS BPO on EQ.

Most utilities (and cell phones) will let you pay them directly and recall from the collection agency. That is what I would do. Contact Verizon and offer to pay in full if they recall from the collection agency. (99% chance they will)

Get it in writing - (an e-mail even) and then pay it off - keep your receipt. Give it time to fall off - and if you don't see it happen in the time frame they tell you (around 45 days) then you can dispute with the receipt and letter/e-mail.

Usually Verizon does their own reporting of the debt, they hang onto the account and just hire an agency to collect on their behalf. I have a Verizon collection from 2013. You got lucky if they're not the ones reporting. If that is the case ask them to recall the debt from the collection agency and then PIF to Verizon. The collection agency will have to remove their reporting as they have no legal grounds to collect on it.

Verizon won't budge on a PFD. I've tried every route possible. They are the only collection I have left and mine is from 2013. Really disturbing as it won't age off until 2020
