Weird update up 6 on FICO

I had a closed account update today that was closed. It updated as "paid account" for the month of October. It was an old account closed 10yrs ago. Will this reset my time that account will drop off...and with this contribute to my AAOA? I won't complain if it doesn't. It was an account in good standings

I don't know how that sometimes works - I have a couple of old closed accounts that still hang out on my reports - I closed all in early 2004. They say PAID and are still there -even though I thought they were supposed to fall off after 10 years....which would have been over a year ago.

Since they appear to help my AAoA on ONE report - I'm not complaining......I just let them be.....

I'm seeing all kind of update on my bureaus this month too. my Capital One Account was remove and reinstated with the same open dates.

If you are still trying to remove a mark with letters to bureaus they will review everything sometimes not not just one of your disputes and in essence shuffle the deck with a lot of banks at once.

So you are saying you closed it 10 yrs ago? No it will not reset. and the 10 year rule does not apply to everything. some people have closed accounts on their reports for more than 20 years. not sure how it happens. I know my mother has all the accounts she has ever closed still on her report. all in good standing. even from 25 years ago.

Yes I closed it. Today I got an update on it and it raised my score +6. Says for oct paid

First. keep in mind. The reasons for the update is not the same reason for the score change. Score change can happen but what triggers the update to present it to you is different. I changed my address and it said address change. score changed 12 points. but the address change was not the reason. to your Question. Yes. AAoA will stay high no matter what. even when you close account as it will still factor in your AAoA. so even after 10 years. the other accounts on your file are then older as well so it will not make a Difference. as long as your AAoA is over 3 years you are doing well. Im currently at 1 year AAoA and not getting any points in that catagory. My oldest will be 2 years this coming month. so i don't expect a big boost in scores until next year. still over 700 because my report is crystal clean. I would not be overly concerned with aaoa.

My wife has a paid car loan that was opened in 2002 and paid off in 2004 still showing on her TU report. Just one of those weird credit things I suppose.
