I just did a prequal at Discover, anf my personalized offer was the Discover It Card... what are the chances of actual approval after app'ing?

There was another thread on this and now I can't find it but I guess the only way it's a true pre qual offer is if it gives you an exact APR rate.

No exact APR.
Im pissed I app for a cap1 secured and got approved for $99 dwn, $200 limit, and i used a hard inq.
I just read another post,.. I should've appk I ed for discover it, and to my understanding, if not approved for unsecured, they could've offered me a secured card offers all on the same hard inq.

But im not sure if the prequal means ill actualy get it. I want to app, but I already have 7-8 hard ing's now.

not if there isn't an exact apr. based on forum exp. Discover prequals aren't that trustworthy....

don't let discover fool you... only way to find out is to app (be prepared for secured card offer or joint applicant offer)

Thanks for the info. Im debating weather I should apply, or wait 6 months having my Wells Fargo secured cc, and cap1 secured cc. Im not sure id even be offered a secured card by Discover, with my very poor score 525. And, do I even need to add another CC to my already 2 cc, 1 4 months old, and 1 new (notyet recieved)? Would that do my score any good? Or just stick with the 2 cc, and 2 student loans...

it was 660 and 675 EQ when i applied. i was denied for tax lien on reports.

you may have a great approval, you just don't know until you apply.

I wish I had a basis or guide to weather or not id be approved, I just dont want to waste a hard inquiry if I get denied.

I've apped four times for Discover and never recieved the secured card offer. Chances are you would have spent an inquiry for nothing.

Once the Cap One card hits your reports, app for their unsecured Platinum card.

Discover prequal isn't real. Try putting in Mickey Mouse and bogus digits and you'll get a recommendation. I do think there's more to it if you get a proper interest rate offer, but even with friends with high scores that never get denied, they got the range of interest rates.
