Hi guys. Lurked here for a while, soaking up the valuable information in these forums. I've had an old AT&T bill (from late 2009, $730) on my credit report for a while now.

After reading all the information on this forum, especially with regards to EOS-CCA, I decided to try to get them to do a PFD in exchange for a settlement of 30%.The person I initially talked to seemed open to it, until I mentioned I wanted a letter stating that the account balance is zero, the account is now closed, and that it would be deleted from all credit reports (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian). He put me on my hold, then a supervisor jumped on and said that EOS CCA does not do Pay For Delete, and refused to budge from that stance. I asked him what it would take to do a PFD (since 30% settlement clearly wasn't enough), and he stayed adamant that EOS does not do PFD under any circumstance.

I'm at a loss for what to do now. Do I call back tomorrow and try 50%, or even paying the full amount to see if they'd do a PFD then? Or should I just go the letter route?

I read on here that someone had email contacts to EOS-CCA, and that several people had success getting a PFD that way. Could anyone PM me said email contact(s)? Would be hugely appreciated, as while this negative account is the only blemish on my credit report, it is really hurting it.

Good luck!

SUCCESS!

After talking with a couple more supervisors, and getting stonewalled like I mentioned in my original post, I finally got someone that explained why EOS was giving me such a hard time. Supposedly, PFDs have been cracked down on in the last few months, which is why they kept saying they do not do Pay-For-Delete, when I knew they obviously did.

As it turns out, though, they still do Pay-For-Delete letters: but instead, they are now referred to as "close-out letters." This is what happened:

1) Called the # on my settlement form: 855-974-6090. Asked for a manager, and persisted until I was transferred to one.

2) Requested a Pay-For-Delete. The guy said they do not do Pay For Delete, but however said that if I paid in full, that I could be sent a close-out letter that could be sent to the CRAs. He chose his words carefully as he explained it to me, to avoid saying Pay-For-Delete, but his explanation of what the close out letter contained was precisely that: a letter stating the account is closed, and that the account should be deleted.

3) I paid in full the amount owed.

4) He had me write a letter stating that I would not rescind the charge, and that I was requesting a close out letter. He told me, word-for-word, exactly what to write and where to fax it to, and to include where EOS-CCA should send the close-out letter fax to. Alternatively, if you can't send or receive faxes, then snail mail would be used which takes a lot longer. I faxed my letter.

5) The next day, I received the "close out"/Pay-For-Delete letter as a fax. The first page stated that the balance was zero, and the account was paid in full. The second page stated that the account was now closed, and was to be deleted from all three credit reports.

I sent off the closed account/deletion page to the credit bureaus (Equifax actually never reported it). Experian has already deleted it from my report, and my FICO score jumped from 670 to 715!

So I guess for anyone that is still dealing with EOS-CCA and trying to get a PFD, try requesting a close-out letter rather than a Pay-For-Delete letter. Every time I uttered the words Pay-For-Delete (prior to the guy mentioned above), the person on the other end instantly shut down and would not budge about anything. You'll probably run into the same stonewalling from certain supervisors even if you ask for a closeout letter, but keep persisting and you should eventually get one that will understand what you're asking for.

Hope this helps.

How long after you made your payment did you fax over your non reversal letter? I spoke to a lady the other day and she too told me what I needed to put in the letter and where to fax it. In the fax I needed to mention if I wanted it faxed back or send by mail.
