Paid Accounts-- Open?

Hello,

Going through my credit reports and finding accounts that are paid but still show open. wondering if this helps/hurts to dispute and mark it as closed?

Is it an OC accunt or a collection?

The open ones are original accounts and majority of them are showing up on Equifax.

Having been delinquent does not necessarily mean the creditor closed the account.

Usually a creditor will close the account to further consumer use once the delinquency becomes major, but not necessarily.

Did the creditor ever advise that the account was closed?

Do you wish to have the account open or reopened?

If you know the creditor closed the account, and you are OK with that, I wqould give them an informal call and remind them of their obliigation to update their reporting ot acccuractely reflect current status as closed.
