Portfolio Recovery...Help Please!

My next step in my repair process is to take on Portfolio Recovery. They have an old Orchard Bank Card account and they're tacking on interest. I want to do a pfd, but only for what I owe Orchard Bank. Hopefully that's possible. Has anyone had any luck with PFD with them? I did a search, but nothing related popped up.

I had success with a pfd to Portfolio. Their reps usually will never take it but I have an executive contact who did. If you goodwill / pfd he probably would do it for you. PM me and I will give you his information.

For what it's worth, I've written to the president as well as other executives and have been told flat out "we do not delete in exchange for payment". I think it all depends on your circumstances and how their numbers are looking that month.

I sent an e-mail to do a pfd and it was deleted from my report w/out having to pay anything. I sent the e-mail on Monday, received a response within a couple of hours, and then it was off two reports by Thursday and the third report on Friday. For me, they said that they couldn't find supporting documentation from OC.

I had success with them deleting after paying them. However, you have to be aggressive and not be intimidated by their reps. I went so far as having some ink stamps created to put a restrictive endorsement on the back of the cashier's checks I sent them basically telling them that 'cashing or depositing this check constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions agreed upon between payor and payee'...It worked. They deleted all trade lines and my score jumped about 90 points.....

I would love the exec's contact info as well. The reps I've dealt with are not helpful at all.

I would suggest that reliance on higher exec level agreement to accept PFDs is not a magic bullet.

Many CAs have policies not to grant PFDs and GWs. And why? Because they enter into credit reporting agreements with the CRAs, one guideline of which is that a credtior/CA is NOT to delete prior, accurate information based on subsquent payment payment of the debt.

Underlings are usually bound by this policy, if it is corporate.

Sure, higher level execs can grant exceptions, but what does that tell their underlings? It is a policy, but not really a policy?

And if an the exception is granted, as most seem to seek, from the CEO. what does that tell to others down the branches of the management organization.

If I were a creditor. I would do all possible to never let individual consumer requests for deletion arise to corporate management level. They hire and pay subordintes to make those determinations

I would love to get the info for your contact. I am in a payment arrangement with them and it's almost paid off. I've talked to several reps to have the account deleted with no success.

I saw your post regarding the "restrictive endorsment". Would you possibly be able to tell me where you had the stamps created and the exact wording? As I am trying to get a Portfolio Recovery account deleted.
