I just got approved for a Platinum and QS1 and although I'm not sure of my EQ score since it hasn't updated yet, my TU and EX are around 580. My bf also got approved for a Platinum just recently and his TU was 563 according to the letter he got.

When I got approved i was around 570s accross the board. Check the prequalify section. Usually its a good indicator on if you will get the cards or not =D .. GOOD LUCK!!! They have been great rebuilder cards!

I would say it depends on how long you have had your secured card. I have seen people as low as 550 getting approved for the platinum and QS1 card.

My scores were in the 570's to 580s and I got it so I would say give it a shot. I had the prequal screen for quite awhile even when my numbers were around the 550's so its likely going to approve at an even lower score.

Good Luck!

There was a guy one here complaining some months ago that Cap One just would not approve him, despite have scores in the mid/upper 600's. They finally approved him after he paid off an old charged off credit card account.

They do a triple pull, and on denial letters I have received they have always quoted an Equifax FICO Score 5 number (the one used for mortgages) as recently as 11/2015.

I paid mine off, settled in full, this past February 2016 and was approved for a Capital One Q1 card with a $300 SCL on Wednesday. If it were me, I would call the collection agency they sent it to and see if you can make some sort of payment arrangement to get it paid off. If you are cooperative with them, they will do their best to accommodate your budget when figuring a payment (mine was $25/mo on a $400 balance), and will most likely give your a settlement opinion after a few months of automatic payments - which isn't ideal, but it's better than showing as unpaid. You still have 4 years left on your 7 year drop off, so it would be worth it to look in to. Capital One is one of the few companies that is VERY helpful with rebuild and isn't predatory like some of the others (I have two, but will be getting rid of one once my Q1 card is in hand).

Both my husband and I have charge offs from CO from 2014 on our reports. I am unable to get anything from them unsecured even though mine and my husband's scores are the ones shown in my signature. I paid off the old charge offs yesterday so I will see if that makes a difference in a few weeks.

I agree with previous poster on the cap 1 charge off being an issue. I had a cap 1 that was charged off in early 2009 and I could never get anything but a secured card approval. It's just now falling off my reports so I'm planning on trying again this summer. I should note I just opened a secured card with them a few weeks ago so hopefully this does the trick
