Credit One Charge off -Success!!

One year and a few months ago my scores were in the 400's. I am now at 680 TU, 640 EQ, 613 EXP (due to recent $40 medical collection) Throught the advice of this site I have totally changed my life and financial outlook and I was confident enough to apply for a few credit cards and a small car loan for which I was approved so thank you!

My recent success was by sending a brief email to the CEO of Credit One, a few hours after sending it I received a response from his secretary saying that I would be contacted by mail. Sure enough I received a letter saying that they would remove the charge off and so it was done!

I now have 3 charge offs (HSBC, Capital One and $100 Fingerhut chargeoff) and if I can successfully achieve those I should reach the 700 club!

That's fantastic!! I see a number of us on here asking for the CEO email address you used, and I know that I could really use that information as well. I spent hours trying to figure out the CEO for HSBC, and when I did, didn't have the best luck.

However, my wife has a couple of 30 day lates with CreditOne that I would love to try to get removed in good will from the CEO.

Thats awesome! Could you PM me the CEOs email as well. Also when it comes to charge offs you can have them removed from your credit report or does it just change the status on how its reporting to the agency. Im slighlty confused, I have a few charge offs Id love to get removed if thats possible (macys, USAA, credit one, and first premier)

HI Aninicole,

By al means I am not an expert, but I will attempt to answer your question to the best of my ability.

Usually when an account is charged off it is written off after 180 days and sold to a CA. There is then two delinquent accounts on your report, one from the original creditor (OC) and the CA. A chargeoff drags your score down tremendously and puts you into a different rating category with the credit bureau's. You can send a "goodwill" letter to the original creditor and ask them to remove the charged off account. My score increased 15 points after it was removed.
