My EX score actually went down 22 points! That infuriates me as it's the same debt. And both are still on there with same balance showing. I did a dispute thru EX.

So if I call T Mobile directly, what do I say, just ask for PFD?

Anyone know about this? They just showed up as a new collection on EQ and EX but I've never heard of them.

However it looks like it's an old T Mobile for the same amount that has been on my report fir a long time but witt Alliance One Receivables.

Did they sell the debt? I haven't received anything in the mail. Should I do an online dispute? It's still showing with both of these collection agencies, same exact amount.

If it is a new debt collector on the same debt, they could either have assigned collection authoirity from the creditor, or they could have purchased the debt.

If the creditor has updated their account to show $0 balance,, the they have sold the debt. Otherwise, they have not reported sale of the debt, so you can assume the new creditor has just moved to a new debt collector.

CRA reporting guidelines instruct debt collectors to delete their reported colleciton should their collection authoirty be terminated with the debt reamaining unpaid.

The CRAs have that policy to prevent two collecitons from simultaneoulsly reportng on the same debt.

You can call the prior debt collector and informally advise of their obligation ot delete, thus avoiding a dispute, or you can dispute the continued showing of the prior collecion on the grounds that they no longer have collection authority.

As for how to deal substantively with the new debt collector,, you can send a DV request if you want verification or the name of the original creditor.

If you wish to negotiate payment of the debt, you might not wish to send a DV, as if you send a timely DV, you impose a cease collection bar, preventing negotiations on any payment options. Your call......

Same.

They popped up on my reports today. T-Mobile Collection. The other collection account was deleted. I called t-mobile and they are willing to take payment and call the CRM to have it removed. CRM wouldn't offer me a PFD they beat around the bush with saying it will be deleted. Couldn't guarantee me that but did offer a settlement. They said I couldn't pay T-Mobile directly.

So I'm paying T-Mobile directly.

I was wrong it's only on EX as of now. But the old one is still there. I think I will do what Robert said and contact them. I'm not going to pay it its very old.

I'm just wondering why my score went down five points can't they (EX) see that it's the same debt that's been there for years?

The CRAs dont screen each reported collection to attempt to match up amounts and named original creditors in an attempt to determine if a collection is potentially for the same debt as another existing collection. They rely upon compliance with their published reporting procedures for debt collectors to make that determination.
