Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul may not be the best route.

She may be able to negotiate a no-interest repayment plan with the creditor.

Can she reasonably afford to enter into a repayment agreement?

I agree. When first reading, I thought borrowing would not be the best answer. The payment plan suggestion would be a better route, especially if they work with you to keep from reporting it.

Ok thanks I'll pass it along ...just thought maybe taking a new loan out would keep her from getting a derogatory

If she hasn't tried rehab on the loan yet, I would give that a try too. She can request it once the loan(s) have been defaulted. I would start by checking out the Student Loans section of the fico forums for info on the benefits & process of student loan rehabilitation.
