Tribute Mastercard problems

Was'nt sure whether to post this here or in CC forum.

I had/have a Tribute Mastercard. On time for 2 years, in September got a $200 CLI. My payments were automatically withdrawn from my checking account with no problem. In Dec, for whatever reason, it posted to my account early and the bank send it back.

Tribute closed my card for me not abiding by the agreement. They would not accept a payment over the phone to clear it up. It was an honest mistake but they did not care.

Each month they keep adding all these charges to the limit, including over the limit charges. What was $300 is now $800.

Each month they add a new account to my CR. I have the original and they keep adding collection accounts in their names.

How can they add over the limit charges when the card is closed? Can they have themselves as a collection account along with their CO?

They are not very pleasant to deal with.

Are you looking for suggestions or just venting?

1. If they pull payments automatically every month, is it on a set day, such as the 25th? Or is it when the bill is due, on the due date?

2. You can easily DV all of the CA's that are appearing on your credit report.

3. The next step after that, should they all turn out to be the same debt, is to notify the OC that it is illegal to for more than one entity to try to collect for the same debt at the same time.

4. By this time, you should have enough documentation to send to the CRA's to have the duplicates removed for being just that -- duplicate reporting.

I am sorry to hear that you are having this problem with Tribute Mastercard. I have a card with them as well (I've had it for 2 years now) I've never had a problem.

All of my payments came out on the same day. This last one got to my bank a lot faster than the others.

My question was, Can they add over the limit fees on a closed account each month?

Check state statutues, T&C from cardholder agreement, and Federal CC laws.

So you're saying that Tribute defaulted you because you made your payment early? Or did Tribute try to take the payment early and your bank declined it? There has to be a paper trail to help you prove this. Sorry if this seems redundant, but did you try speaking with a supervisor or other head honcho at Tribute about this? They either a) got their payment, early even or b) tried to take the payment early which I would think that they then were the ones who didn't abide by the agreement.

What is going on with Tribute?!, I just used my card for a small transaction 3 hours ago. I just went online to check my available balance = $0. So I called Tribute to find out what's the problem; and I was notified that ALL TRIBUTE CARDS WILL BE SHUT DOWN. I was informed that it was not due to my payment history (18 months on time payments). It was a management decision instead, OUCH! Can someone else check their available credit to confirm this? If this is true, I will pay off my entire balance within a month to avoid giving these creeps another dime!

Tribute took my money out of my account too early, not as it was set up. It is a moot point now. I refused to pay all the fees associated with it and they CO'd the account.

Brownfox79.... When did this take place? I have a tribute card too. The account is open and in good standing 2+ years never late. I noticed on my CR they are reporting it as a closed account thought. I called them yesterday and they said they are in the middle of a bank transfer (apparently they sold AGAIN) and that on next months CR it should be marked as open.

Let me know your situation. Send me a PM if needed. Thanks!! I REALLY hope they dont just shut down because this is one of my best accounts (like i said 2+ years, never late and I have gotten several CLI from $300 in August 2007 up to $1350 as of this month.

I feel you One Boss, Tribute was one of the 7 other CC I started to rebuild my CR 18 months ago. I used my Tribute Card on 9/04/09 for a $5.45 transaction(which was approved). Out of curiosity I went online to check my available credit just 3 hours later, which showed $0(CL $600, bal $175). Realizing I just paid the $150 AF in April, I called today (9/05/09) to see if I'd get some credit on the AF, and was told that I'd see a credit for that on my next statement in October."They are in the middle of a bank transfer?" Why R they telling us different stories? I really HOPE that's the case, I'd hate to lose such a positive TL on my CR.

Oneboss you called them the same day that I did, but we were given different info., seems kinda fishy to me. If Tribute shutting down proves to be true, I'll wait until they credit my acct the prorated AF, then pay the bal. in full.

Tribute is a joke. They are owned by the First Bank of Delaware. The customer service reps barely speak english. I must have explained to the rep 10 times before he was able to understand what I was saying. Hopefully Iwill only have to deal with them for a little while longer. My fico's and reporting is gettng close to being able to be approved for a Prime card.

Actually, they are owned and managed by Compucredit (which now also handles the credit side for

Fingerhut as well, I think.) Compucredit also owns some JDB (Jefferson Capital Systems), which in my

case has been an advantage to me through their special BT credit card program.

I couldn't get a secured CC anywhere I kept getting my deposit back and the banks saying that

they can't afford the risk. I had to make three on time payments, then they give a credit and BT

the rest onto a Mastercard. I startred with a $500 CL, it is now over $1000.

I will have another one coming but it will only have an $80.00 CL. I plan to pay this one off
and stick it somewhere where it will only get used once every other month or so,

They did block my card twice and I had to call them to explain that is how one company

bills on a CC (they charge $1.00, then a few miunutes later, charge the full amount, but still leaves

a pending $1.00 for 3 weeks. I had to tell them the $1.00 will never settle.)

They will also block it almost instantly if you try to make a big purchase (like an $700
computer) even if you have the credit available. As long as you pay your account on

time, they are nice, howver, they will call you several days before the due date if you haven't

paid the min payment. They don't bother me, I always pay the day my statements drop.

Had it for almost 2 years.

The cards they service are/were Tribute, Imagine, Majestic, Aspire, Embrace, and Emblem in case

your wondering.

After my acct. was closed in early Sept/09(after 18 months on time payments), and I haven't seen any credit for the AF I just called Tribute a minute ago to see why is there a hold up on it.

The rep told me the AF will prorated in 02/10 .WHAT!! He said it was a fault on their behalf. I then informed him my bal. was only $70 and that it would be PIF by the end of 12/09, then what. He said I would receive a check for it instead.

Anyone else getting the run around about the AF? This is ridiculous!! Luckiy I still have 6 other CC's I opened around the same time to avoid a major hit in my scores! 5 months is a LONG time to wait for a refund on an AF.
