National Credit Systems Pay for Delete

Hey I'm new here! I'm working really hard to understand my credit but also clear up some old stuff so I can put myself in the best position possible to purchase a home for the first time. As of now I have two collections on my record. I sent a pay for delete letter out of Goodwill to each of them. One told me that they do not do that and will not (Online Collections) and the other (National Credit Systems) did not respond. I followed up with NCS via telephone and spoke with a collector who stated that they recieved my letter and accepted my pay for delete request upon payment in full. However, she said that they do not send emails or letters to customers stating this. She also claimed it was their company policy that they honor pay for delete upon full payment.

This seemed fishy to me. On the phone she reminded me that it was recorded and said "If this debt is paid in full we will honor your pay for delete". I told her I still felt uncomfortable without written agreement and she said that if I felt better I could send a check with a letter stating terms such as "If this check is cashed then you agree to delete my debt information from all major credit agencies".

Does this sound like a legitamite thing? Has anyone else dealt with NCS and had success removing their records?

Check endorsements like this are invalid and not binding. There are many CAs who wont issue letters ahead of time as its against CRA policy for one to actually give a PFD and they dont want a paper trail that can be used against them by the CRAs. If you got a verbal agreement its just as good as one in writing. Typically what will happen is an update to PIF then the removal of the TL in 30 days or less. Welcome to the board

I concur.

It is a valid oral contract that subjects them to a breach of contract suit should they reneg.

It is common practice for both creditors and debt collectors to only make oral PFD commitments.

I had a collection with them from 2011, and they would not offer a pay for delete. I was told they don't offer PFD's. I called about settling the account 4mo before it was due to drop off because of age, and was given that information.

The account was only on my Experian report so I did the early exclusion request to get it deleted because of age.

Updating those wondering what is going on - I sent the payment and spoke with a representative there this morning. She told me they send their information out on the 7th and 21st of each month to the credit bureaus and that my request for delete was included. So far there hasn't been a change of story or anything saying that this would not be done so fingers crossed that my report will be updated soon. Does anyone know how long it generally takes for the bureaus to update the reports? I read somewhere that I should allow 30 days at least.

The CRAs can take several weeks to update and anyone agreeing to a PFD can take up to 90 days for it to disappear as they usually update to paid first then the next month request removal.

Hey. We both are literally in the same boat. I paid them last month for an accvount whicvh they agreed to delete but refused to provide me with a letter. Although she was nice, you never never know. I am waiting on the bureau to remove the collecvtion item and Im patiently waiting. Last month another CA agreed to pay to delete and it was removed in a week, it is taking a little longer with NCS. Keep me posted though and I will post once I see something disappear. She did tell me it would get reported on the 21st of last month

That's awesome to hear dfrancois! I haven't had a change yet but I did get a letter from them notifying me of the settled debt at least. I'm going to be patient on my report now that I know someone who had success with them.
