Dealing with Reese Law Group

Hello,

My ex-wife recently had a civil judgment renewed for another 10 years by Reese Law Group (they're representing Ford Motor Company).

She's living in California, and I'm helping out because Reese is garnishing her bank account and it's harming how my Ex is able to care for our daughter.

Has anyone has experience dealing with them?

At the moment, I want to send a DV letter and request all the documentation on the account, and figure out what can be done.

She failed to go to her court hearing -- several times over the years -- so, I know this might an extremely difficult case to handle, but I'd welcome any and all advice.

Once its a judgement, DV's and such don't do anything. What she needs to do is open an account with an online bank/cu that has no branches in California. Something like Penfed, SDFCU, DCU, NASAFCU, etc. All of these are relatively easy to get into by simply joining a partner organization. Then she should direct deposit her money into that account. That will at least avoid the bank levies. They can't levy if they don't know where she is banking at.

What about her employer? is she safe from a wage garnishment?

Garnishment of pay is an order of the court. They set the terms of payment based on the proceedings that she apparently failed to attend.

The attorney is apparently conducting legal representation, and if their primary business is not one of attempting to collect on a debt, they are not a debt collector under the FDCPA, and thus not subject to the DV process.

She should contact the court, who is the one who apparently issued to order of garnishment, and plead her ability to pay the ordered amount.

That is best done through her own attorney.
