A BUNCH of College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) Late Payments Removed!!!!!

First, let me start off by saying that I am ever so grateful for this forum. I had a lot of late student loan payments on my report from CFNC over the years. For those who don't know, CFNC student loans are grouped by type (subsidized or unsubsidized) and semester. This leads to two "accounts" created per semester, so I had 14 "accounts" total. One missed payment would actually be 14 lates. CFNC is also pretty low tech, so online deferments weren't a thing. Every time I mailed in a deferment request, it magically got lost and the late payments started. I ended up with multiple lates a few different times going all the way up to 90 days late. (I eventually consolidated all these loans with Navient since all my Navient loans were deferred correctly each time the CFNC loans were showing late.) The deferments were always granted retroactively, but the late payments remained.

Well, I searched the forums for CFNC to see if anyone had successfully gotten items removed after a goodwill letter. Someone responded to the post of a person asking that exact question and suggested that the person just send copies of the deferment letters to the credit bureaus as part of a dispute. I have no idea why I never thought about that over all these years. So, I requested copies of all the deferment letters from CFNC, disputed all the accounts as never late with all 3 bureaus, and attached the copies of the deferment letters that covered each late period. All I could do was hope for the best.

Well, I got an email from WalletHub today that the payment history on one of my accounts had improved. I logged in and it looks like Transunion has removed all of those late payments from my history! I had 59 new alerts and a 57 point jump in my FAKO score. Hopefully the other bureaus will follow suit. I can't wait until MyFICO gets that info and updates my FICO scores. I am so incredibly stoked!!!! I am so glad that I found this forum and all the useful information contained within. You guys are fantastic! Thanks for reading my ramble.

Congrats on the bump! I would keep an eye on the other agencies and also, see if you can pull your CRs to see the real scores. I utilize WH and CK for monitoring but not for scoring as those scoring models aren't utilized much.
