Hello,

I have 2 missed payments from Capital One, one on each of my 2 credit cards. There from Annual Fees they charged me while I was away on a deployment, as well as some Pending Charges that weren't present when I had left.

I called them before I left and told them I was being deployed, even tried paying the fees and everything months in advance. But they said they'd take care of it for me, and I was all good.

So I called them about it a few times, and they said I'd have to mail in my dispute to them, along with supporting documentation. Here's the letter I was going to mail to them, using "certified mail receipt". (I figured since they have to sign it when its recieved, they couldn't deny ever getting the letter in the mail, if something like that arose, and I'd know when it was recieved)

What do you think? https://imgur.com/a/BT8ZmuM

It was back in Nov of 2017 when it happened.

I had a lot going on, selling my home, moving, selling vehicles so my memory is kind of foggy unfortunantly.

I never recieved any statement in the mail, and couldn't see anything electronically since I had literally no contact with the outside world for almost 9 months. These were also the only 2 missed payments I've ever had with them over the years. I'm sure there was a mistake.

At this point would tying it to a goodwill letter be better suited, or is the try worth it still?

Yes, send in your orders to confirm what you are telling them is truth. My cousin was deployed for a few months and knew when he left, that he had a balance owing to Cap 1. He sent in what he thought was his balance, however, less than $100 remained and went late for 3 consecutive months. Through a family member, he was able to get them a copy of his orders, and it was given to Cap 1. They mailed him a letter, stating that all late charges were being credited, and a "good will" adjustment would be made with the credit bureaus. They even thanked him for his service and look forward to a long credit relationship with him. I thought that was amazing. The letter was defintely not a bulk response, rather one that was very personal and showed compassion.

Thank you for your service

I'm not sure of the address, but yes, it was the disputes dept. They had him include a letter regarding the exact phone conversation they had. It needed to include his Name, account number, DOB, and reference the date of conversation with customer service. They were adding notes on their end. Once Cap received it, they processed and sent him a copy of their decison for his records. He went to check his credit reports and they had already been deleted. I can get you the address on Monday if you still need it. I think you have an excellent chance of getting those reversed.
