hello community.

this is my first post, but I have used the forums as a reference for a while. I have a New Year's Resolution to resolve my credit and move past the stupid college days of being irressponsible. I am tired of dreading looking at my phone when it rings or being emarassed when one of my friends sees a 1800 number ring my phone. Basically, I am ready to move forward with my life. I went ahead pulled my reports, and that is the scariest part...right!? It was not as bad as I thought it would be I have one secured credit card that I have been paying off every month for almost a year, I make my car payment every month, and last year I took a huge step and consolidated my student loans...I feel like I am on the right track.

Even though I am making on time payments, I have not seen an improvement on my credit report. My scores are very low and I am guessing that it is because I have 4 chargeoffs on my report that I would like to tackle first....Well actually only 3 because I just struck a deal with Portfolio recovery...they gave me a large discount with the agreement of requesting a deletion of to the credit bureaus 30 days after my payment clears. (win!)

For the other chargeoffs, I am coming to you for help!! Target and Capital One have told me that they do not offer pay for deletion options for their accounts. This is very disheartening to me. I am in no way dimishing the integrity of the credit game, but at some point...I would like a larger incentive to be able to pay off those accounts. I know that any improvement is better than no improvement, but I want the most bang for my buck in terms of paying off the chargeoffs. Please share your experiences or tips on how to get Target and Capital One to complete a tradeline deletion.

My next question has to do with student loans history: There are a few lines on my credit report regarding the student loans that I was behind on, but were paid when I consollidated last year. They are reporting a $0 balance, but I was wondering if there is a way to have those lines deleted from my account as well? Would it benefit me to try?

I am taking care of as much as I can on my own, what point should I get an professional involved to help me?

Cap-1 does not do a PFD ever. Best thing to hope for with them is a goodwill deletion in the final year of it reporting. If those school loans have lates in them you are going to have to go after them with a good will request for communtation of those or complete removal if it was COed. Welcome to the board

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/GW-letter-Q-amp-A-Examples-and-GW-Success-Stories/td-p/1573680
