Capital One charge off removal success!

I have 3 Capital One charge offs...ugh. Two of the balances are still with capital one so I’m going to PFD those. The third one they sold the debt. I sent an email requesting they remove the charge off from my report on the one with they sold. It was a long shot, especially while I still owe money directly to them, but I just got an alert that the account was removed from Equifax! I haven’t heard back from capital one, but I’m going to count this as a success. We shall see if it comes off my other reports.

Two accounts that capital one owns still will not delete. Only way those will get removed is if they sell those two. Most original creditors automatically remove the tradeline once they sell the debt, some upon request. Yours was the latter, anyways good luck with the rest!

Also, what reason did you give for requesting the removal especially since you still owed money? Doesn’t sound like a PFD or am I mistaken?

I haven’t gotten to letter yet. They called me on Friday but I don’t remember the name. Super respectful though. I might actually pay the full amount just because they were so considerate for a collection agency.

I was wondering what reason you give them for successful removal. I reecently settle a big balance with capital one. 10k down to 5k settlement but they will not PFD or put paid agreed on when updating credit report. The guy was really nice but he said he couldn't PFD but told me it will update as settle in full or settle of balance . I use every reason and even beg him but he said we are required to update correctly and we aren't legally able to PFD.
He later indirectly hinting to me that after my settlement I can dispute the balance or account if there was an error and capital will have certain amount of time to reply to the dispute and if they don't reply then it can be remove from credit report. It seem to me is he was indirectly telling me to dispute this account after month or so of settling it because there a high chance capital one won't response to the dispute and it will be remove from CR since there is no response.
I might do it but still not sure but if there I'd any thing you might have said to then to help with your removal can you please advice Me thanks . My account is been charged off for 6 months and I've been with since 2016.

Pardon my confusion but your initial post indicate you email the company Cap One sold the debt to and asked them to delete and then u got the EQ alert that it was removed. If that is the case then 2 questions:

1. What was the justification you provided for the request especially since you still owe a balance?

2. What was the content of that email? Who is the Collections agency?

I should probably clarify...

I have 3 charge offs with capital one. 2 of the 3 accounts are still in collections with capital one. 1 of the 3 accounts was sold to an outside CA.

I sent a goodwill email to several email addresses at capital one (I don’t know which resulted in the deletion) requesting that they remove the charge off that was sold to an outside CA since cap1 no longer owns the debt.

I am going to try to offer PFD on the other 2 accounts still with capital one. I am also going to try to settle with the CA before the collection shows up on my credit.

Someone said that charge offs are automatically removed from credit reports when the debt is sold. This is not true. Charged off accounts remain in the credit history in addition to the collection account associated with it. Essentially hitting you with 2 deragatory marks for the same account.

As far as what I said in my letter, I simply explained my personal situation as to why my accounts were charged off in the first place, and why my financial situation is different now. I also let them know that I am trying to buy a house and the removal is important to our home buying process. In addition, I have a new card with capital one that I pay on time every month and let them know that I am working diligently to repair my relationship with them.

OP- I believe you are referring to me. I did not say what you wrote above. What I said was "Most original creditors automatically remove the tradeline once they sell the debt, some upon request. Yours was the latter, anyways good luck with the rest!" Citibank automatically deletes the tradeline when they sell the debt, Capital One deletes the tradeline when it is requested/disputed when they sell the debt. If they still own the debt you almost have no chance, but that is not unique to Cap1, that is all original creditors.

Well you may be correct about most, but based on my experience Synchrony does not remove them upon request or when the debt is sold. So if you have any advice in regards to them it would be appreciated.

I am having a simular issue with Capital One where I paid off my account after they sent it to a credit agency and they still have it as a charge off.
