So i got a call from ATG credit today. I actually got a call last week but i missed it and when i called back she wouldnt tell me much. Not even enough to give me the vibe to give me the vibe that it was a debt call, while pumping me for info so i told her i would not give up the info. someone finally called back. It was like pulling teeth though. She said I had a debt with HSN. Its possible I bought quite a few things with HSN in 2014/15 but i thought i was square. I did HSN chat and even "Susan" couldn't tell me all she could say was that the account ithe account has been in collections since 9/22/15 and to call Recovery Management Solutions. Its been in collections for almost four years and ive never seen it on my credit? is this common?

Since it's not on your CR yet, you could ignore it and pray it never shows up. After 7 years from the DOFD, they can't report it. So 3 years to go.

If you want to verify if the debt is real you can send a DV letter via CMRRR to the CA. This can cause them to report the debt to the CRA though.

Settling debt can possibly prevent it ever showing on on your CR, but possibly show up on your CR as collection paid in full, which is just as bad as a collection not paid on your CR. Also, collection paid in full is more difficult to negotiate for removal, since they no longer have something they want from you.

I'm just a novice though, so hopefully, someone with more experience will be able to add more information.
