they are the addresses listed under Newport News on myCR's. I assume for the company that now holds the old FCNB account.

It will fall off based on DOFD.

EX and TU should have a removal date, EQ should have a DOFD listed. If you have reports directly from the CRA.

The GW/PFD would go to the card issuer. The card processing center just handles payments....a lot of CC places uses this place to process payments for them and do the mailings.

From what you posted, the card is issued by FCNB.

WFNNB issues their cards now.

GW/PFD would go to FCNB.

Does anyone out there know if it is possible to contact FCNB? everyting i have googled just comes up as a bank in the midwest or articles regarding them going under. i dont have any of my old statements from when they held the account so I no longer have that address. I have 2 differnt addresses on my CRs-should i just mail a PFD to both? Even though they are not for FCNB?

Scorechaser, if the account was closed back in 2003, chances are that the DOFD is probably at least 6 months earlier, and thus back in 2002. If you have your account records, go back to the first date that the account became delinquent (i.e., 30 days from the due date of the first statement that was delinquent). Most CCCs wont close an account until it has gone delinquent for at least 60-90 days from the DOFD, so I would look first at the DOFD.

If the OC never charged off the account or placed it for collection, it willl drop from your CR 7 years from the DOFD. If they did a CO or CA, then it falls off at 7 1/2 years from the same DOFD.

Account closing date is not relevant.

No, the CR drop-off date is never based on account closing date.

If you bring an account back into good standind that was previously delinquent, this does NOT erase or reset the DOFD in your credit file. The DOFD can only be reset if a NEW chain of delinquencies is started after the account is brought back into good standing.

A payment offered under the condition that the creditor agree to delete their prior posting from your CR does not have to be accepted by the creditor. In fact, the official reporting manual used by all of the CRAs specifically instructs the creditors that it is improper for them to delete an account based on full payment.

Since the "rules" of credit reporting tell creditors not to accept PFD's, it takes some incentive offered to the creditor to take such an action. Greed on their part may do it, but it is always iffy.

I am not sure how your hopes were dashed because the closing date is not the fall-off date.

The DOFD must always be earlier than the account closing date, so it is to your benefit.

The closed date does sometimes play a role in when accounts fall off.

Positive closed accounts remain for 10 years from closed date.

So, this account is not a charge off, it is just a closed account that has multiple lates? Is that correct?

Do you have reports directly from EQ, TU, or EX?

If never sent to collections or charge off, there may not be a DOFD.
