I had a 30 day late through Genesis Financial Services (a lender through Ashley Furniture). The whole situation with this 30 day late was crummy. It was ultimately my own fault but a genuine mistake. I finally decided to send some GW emails. I had to look up the CEO, Bruce Weinstein, and then figure out the format of their emails because they don't have email options listed anywhere. So I send it to the CEO and just got this back today:

"Ms. XXXXX. Thank you for your note. I am forwarding it to our Executive Response Team who are best positioned to respond. I know we are governed by credit bureau rules regarding reporting, but I am also sympathetic that you experienced a problem with our account management site.

I have sent what feels like hundreds of GW emails and letters and never once have a received a response from the actual CEO. What are you're predictions? Do you think this response may work in my favor? Or did I just send all my info to someone pretending to be the CEO of this creditor?

Sucess rate with GW's is like 1 out of 10 around here. If that. All you can do is hope and wait it out. Not much info on Genesis. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Well, someone from Genesis called me today to let me know they would not be able to make a GW adjustment and remove my late payment. I probably screwed up any chance of getting one in the future too. She kept insisting that it was illegal for them to remove it. We went rounds over the legality of reporting before I finally just hung up. That was frustrating.

UPDATE #2:

I sent a second email to the CEO expressing my frustration with the way my request was handled. I let him know I'm understanding of company policy disallowing removals but that it is not illegal and I was frustrated the CSR insisted it was illegal. I just received a call from a supervisor who said they've explained the difference with the CSR and are removing my late payment today!!!

I feel kind of bad for the CSR but I'm happy I had a GW success!!

Cool! Congrats! Yes the CSR lied. Its not illegal. CRA's have contracts with creditors to report accurate info. May have broken the contract clause. But no way in hell is it illegal. There'd be a bunch of CSR's in jail. Sheesh. Awesome!

@cali_alli I'd LOVE the email to the CEO if you have it as well. I've tried bruce.weinstein@genesis-fs.com but it keeps getting returned. I'm attempting a GW removal as well.

I sent the email today and they just called me back saying they don't do goodwill adjustments. I was hoping it was a rude rep so I could complain to the CEO. Lol.

Also looking for the CEOs email. I found Bruce.Weinstein@genesis-fs. com but a lot of ppl are saying that email isn't working. I have several late payments with indigo from covid during Christmas time bc we got laid off for a third time then. Ive been completely paid off every month since and no more late payments but this is hindering my credit so much.
