So here goes.. Back in 2013 I had a repo (Santander). I called a few days ago to try to settle it, but they refused (not surprised). So, I asked for a record of the payment history which I received today. In reviewing the payment history I see that back in 2013 my account was not current as of July 2013. I made 2 partial payments before it was repo'd. My question is, when is the DOFD?

Here's a bit of the history

July - no payment and charged a late fee

August - partial payment (480) and charged a late fee

Sep - partial payment (165) and charged a late fee

Oct - no payment and charged a late fee

Nov - partial payment (430) and charged a late fee

No payments after Nov and charged a late fee each month until repo

Is my DOFD July 2013 since I was 30 days late and never current since then?

I see that its a possiblity to come off of my report this year (or early next year if they keep it for the extra 180 days), just wondering when.. Any ideas?

^^^ this. Early exclusion (EE) is where a bureau is willing to expunge the derogatory tradeline before the standard seven years has elapsed. Here's the scoop:

TransUnion - willing to EE six months early (now). Call in, tell the CSR that you're calling to request early exclusion and you understand that a supervisor is needed, and ask to be transferred. When the supervisor comes on, repeat your request. They'll put you on hold, verify, then come back and tell you it's gone. TU is that easy, far and away the easiest to EE, and the vast majority of us have no issues.

Experian - three months early (based on the first of the month, therefore also now). Call in and ask for the dispute department, since that's their method of doing this. When you have them on the line, explain that you are not disputing the tradeline per se, but that you're requesting EE and you understand it is done through that department. What they'll do is open a dispute in name only (again, this is their process), and that within 72 hours it will close with the tradeline deleted. I've done it twice and the next morning it was closed and the account was gone. EX seems to be hit or miss - I've had zero issues but others have had some difficulty.

Equifax - will delete 30 days early. Do NOT try. EQ is a dumpster fire with EE. They honestly could manage to set the house on fire trying to water the houseplants (provided they could figure out how to turn on the faucet). Just wait the 30 days and let the account drop off on its own. That does work.

Let us know how it goes - you should be able to get two of your reports cleaned of this account today
