Diversified Consultants Closing?

So I have one last collection to take care of. It's with Diversified Consultants. I have been trying to get in touch with them for several weeks to no avail and today I see this. https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/article/diversified-consultants-closing-jacksonville-hq-laying-off-250

What does this mean? Did they sell off my collection or what do I do? It states that they tried to restructure their debt but were not able to. Not sure what my next step is to get rid of this collection and I'm sure there are more people with collections owned by Diversified.

Article says " The notice says it has one sole office now at 10550 Deerwood Park Blvd., No. 309." so they may try to collect until they all close. I'm sure they will sell whats leftover to another comany for pennies on the dollar to finish the closing. You could dispute it. If no one answers. Poof.

I saw that about the sole office remaining. I just wasn't sure if it was just an office with a couple people since they say they are laying everyone off. Should I even bother trying to contact that office? I found a second phone number but it's disconnected. I could dispute as you say but when do I dispute? In May? If they sold to another company then I can also try to get taken off my credit and wait for that next letter from the new agency and attempt to do a pay for not reporting agreement.

If you file a dispute. There wont be anyone there to verify it. I dont think this is against forum rules for gaming the system. If no one is home. No one can answer the door. I'll leave it at that. Dont want my hand slapped.

For anyone who has a collection with Diversified Consultants, they are going out of business effective 4/30/2020.

jacksonville-based Diversified Consultants closes lays off 250

I'm assuming that if they are closing down, they aren't going to be in a position to respond to disputes from CRA.

I have filed a dispute with TransUnion as of yesterday. Hopefully, this will make the collection go away.

Diversified Consultants was notoriously hard to deal with... no PFD and rude. So you'll forgive me if I indulge in a bit of Schadenfreude. I hope each one of their employees winds up having debts go to CA and treats them with the same level of "respect" that they have treated us all these years!

FYI, I realize they may have and most likely sold the debts to another collector but again, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume they are not doing their due diligence in terms of providing the required documentation to any new CA... thereby giving additional grounds for disputes.

I was wondering why this CA had dropped of my CR. Now might be a good time to deal with Sprint since they weren't willing to recall the debt when I last spoke to them!

Well THAT was fast!

I disputed on Wednesday and on Friday, got a notification from TransUnion that the account has been deleted. I fully expect some bottom feeder to hit my CR with another collection but in that case, I suspect that I can dispute again and request documentation... and fully expect that Diversified will not have provided sufficient proof.

now is a great time to deal with the OC if you haven't yet already.....before they hire a new CA to take Diversified's place on your CR...just in case you still owe it, if not, congrats they are finally off!

So I wonder if I need to dispute Equifax and Experian or just give it some time for them to update.

I paid Sprint and they stated that no CA is "endorsing" my account. So does that mean that Diversified should come off EQ & EX too?

They were pulled from TU 2 days ago.

I have a CA with them collecting on behalf of Sprint. Multiple attempts to get them to recall the debt has been fruitless.

I noticed 2 days ago they pulled their account from TU, so I reached out to Sprint about pay for recall and they still said they would only update the CA to "paid". I asked them specifically if Diversified held my account because they are now shut down.

After a bit they came back and said no CA is currently "endorsing" my account. I offered to PIF if they agreed to not foward my account to another CA to only be updated to "paid". They agreed. I paid it.

Did I jump the gun?

Should I have first disputed with EQ & EX to remove Diversified from both of those CRAs? Or waited until they dropped from them before I paid?

I am feeling at a loss rn. Like I paid too soon. They did say no CA "endorsed" my account. Should I dispute it now? Wait to see? I just dont want it updated to "paid" and be stuck with them for 4 more years on my 2 CRs....

Any direction is welcomed.

I paid a Sprint account via direct to sprint, and DCI still reported it paid thru them.

With this new found info, I'm thinking of disputing what's reported on my CR.

I have the account info from sprint and when it was paid.

You should dispute it and see what comes back. They have what 7 to 14 days to respond?

Wouldn't the new collector have to send a letter first, asking you to respond within the 30 days? If they do, then I'd think we can pay for not reporting.

That would be my guess.

My debt was with Sprint with a DoFD going back to 2015... or even perhaps 2014. So I'm well beyond the SOL in my state and don't really want to poke the bear and reset that.

I paid Sprint directly also. They were set to drop of 5/2022. I just hope that they dropnoff EX & EQ like they did with TU. I just am unsure since I went and paid them before they dropped from those 2 CRAs that now I will be stuck with them reporting 2 more years....

I am afraid to do anything with EQ, but I did try disputing EX that Sprint stated DCI no longer held (or "endorsed") my account and sent the SS of the chat transcript stating that no CA holds it and none should be reporting it once paid since they haven't fowarded it to the next CA yet....

I went ahead and disputed EX last night. It is off of TU already. I know EQ is great at messing everything up. I am waiting to see what EX decides. I was a bit surprised that they didn't just remove it ASAP like fornother people. I am guessing that is not great news. I will keep you posted. Let me know how it goes for you!
