DW has a collection from penn which i know scream at the idea of a PFD, for an electric bill DoFD 6/5/2014. Im trying to get it removed to raise her score for eventual USDA mortgage attempt, im also trying to get her in bed with Navy for CC's which prequal says no dice nrewards only TU fico 8 is 635 but im sure 9 is supressed further because of this collection im also aware nfcu computers hate open collections

here are what we have done so far

1. called electric company, to inquire about alleged bill, confirmed dofd, also say they still own the debt, asked about recalling the debt front line CSR was not sure, DW got frustrated.

2. got an email for a Thomas Perotta (some big wig who responds to bbb complaints and has deleted collections from bbb complaints) at Penn Credit, referencing account number, using terms such as alleged debt blah blah, didnt admit to anything, Im sure a DV letter would get validated via using old bill, have not disputed this with any of the CRA's Penn continues to update this collection last update was april 23rd, have not heard anything back from them, have not called them, explained the situation wanting to buy a house blah blah and asked if PIF if Penn would be willing to delete

anyone have any ideas how to get this thing removed, it sucks to pay this so close to removal, but if its not going to get deleted, i dont see any point to pay it tbh

i think trying the electric company again and get a supervisor in billing asking to recall get confirm they will recall then pay them directly would be the best

thanks for any input
