Rebuilding (Lates and COs)

Hi,

I recently began repairing my reports. I somehow stopped being a knucklhead and began gearing down on some issues last summer 2019. I had many many collections, missed payments and was downright depressed about it. For a long time I was a luker here just reading every now and then about people's story and I think I am ready to contribute my story and keep updates. I know there must be another person out there that is where I was last year (maybe better than where I was or worse) so I am gearing this towards them. I want you to know it gets better.

Last summer my scores were EX-512 EQ-507 TU-546.

No credit cards and in fact had one capital one closed (could not keep up with payments so paid what i owed and closed it. It was a mistake closing it), and Discover card that was charged off (my oldest CC),
I had two student loans that are current with late payments.
a couple collections (one medical another cable),
An auto loan that was repoed and got back

First thing i did the past year, I started with getting collections off the record. It was tough dealing with the cable since they sold it, and sold it again, and sold it again to where i did not know who to pay. I finally found the agency, paid them (before i found out about PFD). I found someone's email that works there and constantly emailed asking for help. I let a couple months pass and asked again and eventually got it off. The medical collection was a 5min call and they decided to get it off. I didnt argue.

I then applied for a secured card with opensky. Very minimal use because I did not trust myself. I then went for a BoA secured and got approved (it helps since i bank with them often). After getting my BoA graduated and increased in CL 8 months later, I applied for a Cap1 again and get it.

Right now, I have written up a dozen GW letters and sending them out to get my late payments removed and CO off. As of now, my scores sit at EXP-675 EQ-646 TU-676

My goal is to hit the 700s and I'm hoping getting some missed payments off and the CO off will get me there at the least. Currently MyFico shows my payment history as good so there's hope of hitting that goal.

Hi! Im new here. just browsing around and im wondering what is a "PFD"? Im looking to rebuild my credit and hopefully be able to pay off debt and buy a house in the next 9-12 months. Thanks!!

Pay for Delete. Meaning you offer to pay the collection agency in full or settle for less in exchange for them deleting their TL (tradeline) off your reports.
