Barclays Zero balance Charge Off Midland Possible collector

Barclays Account was charged off in May of 2017.

There is a zero balance.

Last date reported as a charge off his January of 2017, which means they're not reporting it monthly as a charge off in my credit reports.

Estimated month year this will be removed is 2 / 2022.

I received a letter from Midland Funding about this account in September of 2017 which was the last time I heard from them.

I'd like to pay this off but in increments in monthly payments.

If I contact Midland about this, will it change the automatic removal date which is February of 2022?

Please give me your thoughts and thank you in advance.

Short answer: no.

Contacting the CA that will not reset the credit reporting exclusion date. That date is determined by the DOFD, which is when the account first went delinquent and was never brought current again.

Entering into a payment plan then defaulting on it could reset the SOL but that wasn't your question.

If you have a collection account with Midland they will delete the collection after payment is made or settled

My Experian credit report shows the following:

Account name BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE

Original creditor - Company sold MIDLAND FUNDING LLC

No I would say it's collection item from Barclays.

It also shows that the last month for charging it off was may of 2017.

So this does not look good for me does it?

If I paid off Midwest funding, any indication that I owed them money would not be shown

but since I never paid Barclays, their statement of non payment through May of 2017 would stay on my report even if I paid Midland right?

I do not know all the details in your case. Some times it could take time for Barclays to update their accounts reporting. May be you ca give some time and see if it gets cleaned up. Other option is call Barclays and Midland and find out what is going on.

Correct, since Barclays sold the debt to Midland already, they have no more interest/updates to do on their TL since they already zeroed out the balance and stopped updating. If Midland isn't reporting, then once you pay, that would be it for this delinquent account. The Barclays reporting will remain until the date stated, but you can request early exclusion (EE) from each bureau at their respective EE times (6 months TU, 1 month each EX and EQ).

Once you pay or settle with Midland they will delete it off your credit reports.
