I have had no luck with them either. I just found out from Verizon that they bought it but doesnt seem like they want me to take care of it other than the stupid letters they send out once in awhile lol

I have called, sent letters and emailed letters and they only treated like a debt valadation letter.

I can get a mortgage with it unpaid and my scores where they are, so Im not even worried about it. I would pay it tomorrow just to not have to look at it if they agreed to PFD.

Good luck

I'm having a hard time with Afni doing a PFD. I sent the PFD letter and got a debt validation for one and a letter stating why I'm disputing the debt on the other. I called and asked to speak with a supervisor and got the run around..as well as being told that I could settle the debt and they would update the CR showing paid, but couldn't do a PFD. I know in the past it has been done from reading the boards here, so what am I doing wrong?

Is anyone else having/or had the same issue with Afni? I need help on how to deal with them.

I'm not sure about the SOL...one collection is from when I lived in Minnesota and the other from Florida

The DOFD for the Minnesota collection was 02/04 and Florida was 07/05.

Check the state resources thread. You have to also make sure that the SOL would not toll in various ways. It could toll if you move out of state, it could continue to toll in your present state etc. Also, read up some case laws which are pertinent. More and more judges are considering written and open contracts interchangeably. The last thing you would want is an unpleasant surprise.

Thats why I would do whatever it takes to fight the debt and clear it up rather than wait for the SOL to run its course.

My advice is to be very, very careful in calling a CA. It is usually not to your advantage.

First, know your state SOL law! I am not sure about FL, but some states provide for a reset of the SOL if you even make an offer to pay, which is what a PFD offer is. They are recording you.

A CA is fully justified in refusing to accept a PFD offer, The credit reporting manual, to which they are bound in their reporting activities, includes clear and definite instructions that a CA should NOT delete an account based on payment, but should only update its status.

Some CAs may circumvent their reporting requirements and delete an account in exchange for $$$, for their business is $$, but they are fully justified in setting a policy not to do so. If the debt is high and SOL is far off, they are in the driver's seat. But if SOL has expired and/or they debt is low, they may bite on a PFD offer. It depends on the circumstances of the debt, and the CA corporate policy.
