My rebuild starting over

It has been a while since I have posted but my original journey fell through due to health concerns. Most recently my credit scores fell to 496, 509, and 500. Excuses I know but a heart attack and cancer diagnoses within months of each other can drastically change your life. I am much better now and cancer is under control but I had to start rebuilding again.

In the last few weeks I have been able to take care of the following:

Midland Credit Collection - Paid the $500 I owed

Portfolio recovery - Settled $1,100 for $510

Portfolio recovery - Settled $1,200 for $629

Portfolio Recovery - Disputed $265 and won dispute

Spring Oaks Capital - Settled $328 for $72

Paid off 5 credit cards totaling over $6500.

Paid off my remaining mortgage of $62,000

Settled Target card of $1400 for $443

Paid off Amex charge off of $657

Settled CFNA card of $1123 for $673

Had 4 late payments removed.

My credit is still dirty but my scores in the last week have rebounded to Ex 578, TU 572, Eq 561. Everything has not reported yet. I am still waiting on Portfolio and Spring Oaks to delete those collections. Waiting on 3 credit card payoffs to report. Have 1 other credit card I will pay off ($1273) later this month.

I still have LVNV judgment for $1800 that I am paying on, about 20 late payments I am working on, and too many inquiries. I have some loans I have paid off recently but they haven't posted yet.

Hopefully soon I will be able to report to you all that I am over 600 and again climbing.

You did amazing paying off so much debt and your mortgage. I am glad that health wise you are feeling better.You should be proud of what you have accomplished.

@Knight302 Good morning! Wow you have gone through an amazing journey. Most important, very happy to hear your health is well and you have continued to heal. Sending positive and healthy karma your way. Lastly, you have also accomplished an incredible feat in your rebuild. Congrats on the incredible progress on all fronts! Still waiting on some things to post and score updates but just got an alert that the late payments from my AMEX card that I paid off after charge off have been removed! I didn't expect that at all!

@Knight302 this is when we get tot hat point of watching & waiting. Patience from here on out. Let time heal those old wounds and before long you will be rewarded. Way to go!

So just a quick update of scores.

Experian - 598

Equifax - 579

TransUnion - 596

Have had a few items removed. Still waiting on CC info to update because I have my usage at 2.6% now but reports are still showing usage as: TU - 30%, EX - 22%, and EQ at 50%. It is also becoming clear to me that either Equifax is slow to update or creditors do not update Equifax as often as they do the other two. May just be me but that seems strange.

I don't know where my scores will land within the next 30 days but if my calculations are correct, I feel like I can be at or near 650 once the usage updates and a couple of settled accounts in collections get deleted.

Congratulations on your improving health. There's no judgment here about credit issues, many of us have been there. Some of us have been there more than once.

You've made excellent progress on your rebuild and you know the steps and you're taking them. This will take time but you're on your way. Let's take a moment to celebrate that for now🥳🎊🎉

Your efforts will be rewarded in time. Patience and careful attention to your credit is the key to success. My scores were almost all 800+ until I paid off my house and bought a new car last year. They were high since my second bankrutcy fell off about 2008. I say this to illustrate that if, even my scores could be so high for so long, anyone can do the same. I filed ch. 13, and still did not learn until I had to file ch.7 about 12 years later. I was horrible with credit, but I changed my bad habits, and my scores were at one point as high as 844 on fico 08.
