So after making a complaint to the BBB about JL Walston and Associates, they finally send me verification of a debt. No problem. I will send them a PFD letter.

But, in this verification of this debt, they have attached another debt- medical for my son. I am so confused about it. The address that the doctor actually billed to is incorrect, but the verification looks like a faxed print out from the hospital that actually has a due date of 6/11/2009.

Now as much as I am going forward, I dont want to go backwards. THe debt is for $43.86. I do not believe they are reporting on my report, and I do not want them to.

How do I go about getting this taken care of ASAP?

I am so angry right now, because I have an account at the hospital for both my sons and myself. It doesnt take a genius to tie in the social and attach all accounts to me. How in the world would you send this to the wrong address, but all other bills come to me, is BEYOND me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So, because of the implications regarding the medical board, the mods are no longer able to give advice on this topic? I'm just putting 2 and 3 together based on other posts.

Even though 2 creditors sent your accounts to the same CA, they will issue a new account number in their office and everything is processed via that file. These are 2 separate debts and shold as handled as such.

For the medical debt - if you have the money to PIF then call the provider and request them to get the account back.. Many of the contracts that providers have with outside CAs is that even if the debt is paid to the OC, the CA still gets their commission. The theory is valid.. many time borrowers often get things cleared up once the CA starts getting involved - so the payment has a direct relationship to their efforts.

That's the reason many OCs refer you to CAs after they have been referred. However, they can call the debt back and let you handle it that way.

Follow all the advice step by step for the HIPAA process - careful attention to detail at the onset, makes it that much easier and faster on the back end.

Message Edited by 203bravo on 05-25-2009 10:37 AM

From the sounds of it, that CA has attached a bill to the original that has yet to be put to collections? That June dated bill...is that something you can pay directly to the hospital & tell them to call the dogs off????

Well, I just talked to the OC and they said they would pull it back from the CA. I almost hung up because when the customer service rep answered the phone, she sounded as if she had better things to do, then help me. She said they had just sent it over, so it wouldnt affect my credit. I asked her again if they could pull it back. She said no problem.

The bill is now paid in full and my address corrected in their system.

*sigh...

Thanks guys!
