Transunion Early Exclusion...WIN

Back in 2014, I had co-signed a on a car loan for my youngest son. He only kept the car for 2 years then traded it in on another car, in June of 2016. I don't know what, or where it went wrong but I ended up with a 30 day late on that account. Assuming it was something to do with the dealer on the new car, and when they made the payoff on the original account. I successfully disputed it with EX last year and they immediately removed it from my report.

I also tried to dispute it with EQ and TU at the same time and they both came back with verified and left it, but I figured I'd wait it out since this was the only blemish on my reports. After all, how much could a single 30 day late from almost 7 years ago really be hurting me since these things' effect on your score is supposed to diminish with time....

Fast forward to a few days ago, I contacted TU asking for an EE and have heard nothing, until just a little while ago I got an alert from MyFico, so I log in and see that my TU score jumped 39 points! Reasons/Alerts given were:

1. A personal Finance account was removed from your credit report. (didn't know it was listed this way until now)

2. Decrease in Accounts Past Due.

3. A delinquency/past due account was removed from your credit report

Kind of blew my mind a little, didn't expect something that old would have that much impact (disclaimer, YEMV) but thanks TU!!

Most of the time when I see people asked TU for EE it happens almost immediately. I did this 3 days ago and have heard nothing....glad you shared this, it seems I'm not the only one who is waiting days for TU on this.

Saw you talk about waiting on another thread, it was about three days for me and TU still hasn't notified me of anything themselves, hopefully it happens for you soon.

yeah I have membership here too, so if any change happens on my TU, myfico tends to email very quickly to let me know. Nothing there yet either....I check each day because I'm curious what that will do to my scores. I dont anticipate a huge jump but I cant imagine that clearing off the last two late pays would have no effect. We will see...

No response yet. Wonder if calling TU would make a difference? I've been around these forums for years and have never seen anyone waiting a week for this to happen before that I can recall.

@bass_playr , I would call... thats what I did, she still told me I'd have to wait for the dispute but I told her I wasn't calling to dispute it, rather I was wanting it (late payment) removed due to it being too old. One scoring service I use, it showed up the next day... they deleted the whole account completely. To date I still haven't received anything from TU,

Actually just did that with most of my baddies for my 2017 BK 13 (my CO's were 2016) - I'll let you know how it goes (there were a couple accounts I had to call Experian to dispute - interesting response from the agent "Experian doesnt do EE but we can open a dispute to request the lender remove them due to nearing the time for deletion")

Finally got an update, TU removed the last late pays on my entire credit report.

TU did not email me to let me know the results. I happened to check the dispute status and saw the change.

Myfico did not notify me either, and it doesn't show on here yet, so I don't know the impact this had on score. Hopefully it shows up soon so I know what effect if any it had.

All of my credit reports are now 100% clean from any negative statuses.....no late pays, all accounts in good standing.

Update on this, some results are in - about half are not

TU interestingly doesn't show my 13 which I didn't dispute

Most accounts that I did dispute that have come back have done so with updated remarks and a few with adjustments in payment status (in my favor by a month) - one credit card from Delta Community CU was removed completely (this was the only account to be removed)

I figure at worst most will drop this fall with the rest come off shortly there after and the 13 next fall

BOOM!!!

33 point increase on my TU Fico!! Took a couple extra days to be reported but I'll take that.

When I started rebuilding, my scores were around 430....now, my lowest FICO 8 is 670....all 3 of my reports are 100% pays on time. All that's left now is to pay down some more balances, once my usage drops I should be in the 700s....

It is for accounts near aging off. You can get them deleted a bit earlier with EE. Typically 6 months for TU, 3 months for EXP, and the consensus seems to be to just leave EQ alone and wait for the natural age off. With TU you dispute online saying too old to be on my report / obsolete. Exp it's a call in dispute with the same reasoning.

I had a lot of trouble with equifax removing an account that shouldn't have been there. I had to file a complaint to the BBB to get it resolved. I wish you the best of luck!

Today is 08/21/2024 - Called TransUnion, got India, was super friendly with the agent. Told her I wanted early exclusion, she said that I would need to be transfered to a special department for that (in the USA), waited on hold for 20 minutes.

New agent in the states picks up. I repeat I want to see about an early exclusion on a few accounts (Both accounts were set for removal in Jan 2024). She went on to say that early exclusion is not really a thing, but then went on to ask about the two accounts, said she could dispute the dates. Then went on to say, both accounts are deleted.

The agents in the states are the key, thus getting transferred to an agent in the US. Early Exclusion may not be a firm policy, but the agents in the states "can" have items deled.
