need help removing judgement from 2006

I found a public record on my credit recently. It was a default judgement in Wocester County, MD in April 2006. I just discovered this, called the court and they said my mother was served in May 2006. I live in Torrance, California and have been living here since september 2004. I have a valid CA license issued on 15 Feb 2005, a steady job and pay taxes since 2005. I filed a motion to vacate judgement because I was never served and unaware of the judgement till last month. The judge denied based on length of time elapsed. My mother says she was never served and would have told me if so. What can I do to remove this? I have about 14 days left to appeal the denail motion to vacate at a cost of $110. Any help, advice or a good attorney, please.

the judgement is for $3,083 and it's been validated by TransUnion

What do you mean by you have a valid CA license?

My advice would be to find out what is considered proper service in that state and then find out how the court papers shows you were supposedly served.

Some attorneys give free consults, might speak with one.

CA license =I have a valid California drivers license. I don't live in Maryland and haven't for over 10 years The state(MD) says that they have to serve the person or guardian if under 18y/o. I talked to one lawyer and he said the issue was the time elapsed because they should have served me and should have contacted me at my address. I just don't see how the amount of time can be a factor if I was never made aware of it. Frustrating.

Under Title 6, Subtitle 312 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings section of the Maryland statutes, I believe serving your mom's house would be legal.

I would read the state statutes and see what I could find.

I brought this up again hoping for some help but to my shock you locked it? I quess the good news is it was done before my 30 day free trial ended.

I'm not sure what it has to do with the question, not even quite sure where it came into play at.

However, If you'll look in the statutes I directed you to above, you'll see that title 6 is the "Personal Jurisdiction, Venue, Process and Practice" section, which might help you out with your question.
