Making Progress!!!

As of November of last year my credit scores were :

TransUnion: 524

Equifax: 523

Experian: 522

As of Today:

TransUnion: 686 (+162)

Equifax: 721 (+198)

Experian: 728 (+206)

My goal has been to get all 3 scores above 700 and I feel like I'm sooooo close. This page has been huge in helping me find ways to boost my scores, and helped me learn what healthy and productive credit usage and spending is. I really just wanted to share how excited I am about this!!! Whoop Whoop!!!

Do you have any tips you can share on what you did? I'm currently in the place you started and just got kicked in the teeth from Experian dropping my score 40 points due to bills removed from their boost program. I'm so upset. I need their scores to be approved for a particular apartment community and it's like the rug keeps getting yanked out from under me.

You might start a new thread. Give all the gory details, scores, accounts, balances, limits, baddies, etc. Include any approach you are using. Some of the credit wizards here will tell you what direction to take, what will help, what wont.

Congrats! I started my rebuilding in march of 2022 after a nasty divorce. All three were 485

beginning of 2024 they were hovering around 600. Now Eq just broke 700 TransUnion is 767 and Experian is 760

I always make sure I pay on time, of course, but I cut my bills as much as I could and paid down all 3 of my credit cards to zero or near zero balances. My credit limits were fairly small so that was not super hard to do. Once I did that, my scores began to rise quickly as i used the cards then paid them off. Once my scores got more reasonable, I requested Credit Line Increases on all of my cards and got my limits raised. All of these things helped me dramatically in the last year. I also was able to get 2 derogatory accounts removed from my credit reports by using the dispute system through Credit Karma. I monitor my reports and my scores, almost daily. I got a ton of good advise on these forums that helped me develop a good strategy. Which has basically been letting my credit sit, no new inquiries, or anything like that, while working on paying off my debt. Keeping the balances low has been huge, while using the cards responsibly.

Wow!!! Thats amazing progress. Isn't that the best feeling in the world??? I swear I will never let my credit suffer again, If i can help it at all. Its so much easier to do things when you know your credit isn't in the toilet.
