topic MyFICO late payment…? in Rebuilding Your Credit

Hopefully this is in the correct location. I've been rebuilding and closely watching my credit while paying everything off. Every month my MyFICO payment history shows "Time since most recent late payment 1 month" I have not missed a single payment in quite some time. I've looked at every account and they all are current and no lates. Is this just an error or am I missing something? I have older charge offs that are paid and $0. I have 2 closed cards with a balance that I pay every month and show "current pays as agreed" so I'm not sure where this late payment is coming from...

Sometimes the “Time since most recent late payment” field on MyFICO doesn’t update the way you’d expect. Even if you’ve been current for a long time, it can still count from the last reported late payment on your credit file, not from when you actually paid it. This means if you had a 30-day late in the past (even years ago) that’s still on your reports, MyFICO will reset the counter each time it updates, showing “1 month” even though no new lates have happened.

It’s worth pulling your full reports directly from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion (or via AnnualCreditReport.com) and looking at the payment history grid for every account. Sometimes there’s an old closed account or a charge-off with an incorrect recent date causing the reset. If you spot an error, you can dispute it with the bureau reporting it.

If everything looks correct on the official bureau reports but MyFICO still shows “1 month,” it’s likely just a display glitch in their tracker and not affecting your actual FICO scores.

I wouldn't worry about that. As long as the information in your credit file is accurate, the computerized interpretations of that data (by MyFico, Credit Karma, etc) aren't really relevant. As long as all your accounts are showing accurate payment histories, then the MyFICO recap of "X months of on-time payment history" and other things like that aren't important, and they're often wrong anyways. But only you see those (wrong) recaps, creditors don't.

Thank you both, I figured it was just an error. Hard to see when I'm on a rebuild and looking for all the good things that take awhile to report on the file lol.
