I need help understanding if Capital One is correctly reporting this charged off account. They sent a letter saying they are correctly reporting that the account charged off on September 21, 2022. They are reporting the balance amount as $5178.00. However, $4221.00 was written off.

you haven't paid on this or made a payment on this at all?

have you been sued on this or has this been transferred to a collection/law firm?

No, I haven't paid anything on it. Capital has it not a collection agency

If they mentioned the written-off part, I think they’re talking about their own accounting. You still owe the money unless they explicitly forgave it.

Nothing has been forgiven, and the interest and charges are still happening, or where happening until recently.

Did you reach out at any time to come to a new payment arrangement with Capital One regarding your considerably over the limit (at time of the write-off) balance?

Unless you have something in writing agreeing that the over the limit amount of $4221 was all that would be owed, the amount is being reported correctly.

That's not to say that the entire amount can be collected. I can't see your history on this account.
