Do Deferred Student loans count??

Greetings.

Im sure this is a dumb questions: I have 40K in student loans that are still on deferment..is this bad for my score & does it count towords utilization?

Are they on your credit reports, yet? If not, nope. If *you* can't see them, neither can a lender ~ nor FICO.

If they *are* on your CRs, remember: they're installment accounts and really don't have as much power over your FICO as revolving accounts (credit cards, really) do. Revolving is where utilization is the difference between a 600 and a 700!!

And remember, there is NO such animal as a "dumb" question!!! If you don't know the answer, chances are likely that someone in lurker-land doesn't know (and is wondering), too!!

I don't see how it could count towards utilization as it's by necessity 100% util. It definitely can show up on your CR though and can be counted in your DTI ratio.

I may be wrong, but my understanding of deferrment goes to your obligation to make monthly payments on the debt, and not to deferring the debt. I would think they would still count in % util.

My credit report shows this...can you tell me why it says zero delingencies & 17 satisfactory accounts with some beng in collections?
