I received a HSBC card in early 2008, I fell on some HARD times in September of 08 and was unable to pay them, I have 4 past dues with them (1-30 day, 1-60 day, 1-90, and 1-120). HSBC sent my account to Redline Recovery, and I've been paying them, and have managed to pay down the account. The high balance was $1034, I now have a balance of $128.

I think that Redline Recovery is some kind of internal collection agency, because I pulled all 3 of my reports and they are not listed, rather HSBC is listed, and it shows the account was closed by credit grantor.

When I called HSBC regarding my account, they tell me to cotact Redline Recovery.

My questions are:

how do I go about getting the late payments removed? should I do a GW? has anyone had success with HSBC?

and

has anyone had success with reopening a cc, specifically HSBC once it's been closed,

I'm confused as to who has the account. Please help

Thanks for the replies.

My apologies-the cc in question is Household Bank. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

I too did a search on Redline and read all the complaints and grievances. I haven't had a problem with them (knock on wood), but that's probably because I've been paying them.

I will send GW letters out to everyone and their mama.

Yeah-Redline has a bad rap. Before I knew any better (that is....before discovering this site), I had set up a payment plan with them. I've paid down my high balance, and currently owe $128, which I plan to pay next month. Before setting anything up with them, I should have contacted the OC and dealt with them instead. Isn't hindsight always 20/20?

I'm learning.

Ok-so you suggest that I send them a letter correct? I'll try that approach.

Thanks again

ETA-when I spoke to customer service at HH rgarding reopening my account, they said I would have to talk to Redline (scratching head), tha to me makes absolutely no sense. They're not the OC. Just to humor myself, I called Redline re reopening the account. They claim, that they would send a letter to HH on my behalf requesting they open the account. Right. I was in a good mood, I then asked, if HH usually reopened accounts once they were closed, and the RL person said, she can't say yes for sure, but it's highly probable. I was born at night but last night,

Please let me know your thoughts.
