I have a $30 in collections with NCO through 1&1 Internet Webhosting. I was paying them monthly through PayPal and had my credit card that was on file with PayPal expire. Because it expired, I didn't realize that my payment wasn't going through until it was too late. Should I contact 1&1 and ask them about paying this and having it removed or is it too late and I now have to deal with NCO? I've attached account details. One through the ScoreWatch and the other directly through Equifax.

I decided to give 1&1 a call to see what they had to say. They are closed in observance of Columbus Day, but going through they're number map, it was wanting to automatically forward me to NCO. So, if NCO is their 3rd party CA, who do I technically owe the money to? 1&1 or NCO?

As already stated......always try the OC. Make sure that you explain what took place. Tell them that you want to PIF if they will pull it from the CA. If they accept then get it in writing before paying.

When paying be sure to use the restrictive endoresment!! This was they can not turn it over to the CA.

I think the same as you would with a check. Make payable to the OC.......Turn it over where they endorse it and write.......for deposit only into the account of (name of the OC)

Another update! Saturday, I got a SW alert that my score had gone up 37 points. I really didn't have any idea what it could be, since I emailed NCO just middle of last week. I emailed them my PFD that got returned to me for insufficient address (The same address that is on my CR). Today I check the mail and I received a letter from NCO stating they were deleting. It's a little confusing though, so I've scanned the document and was wondering if I could get some input on this.

I haven't paid this, should I go ahead and contact the OC to try and pay or what?

It is likely that NCO handed this account back to the OC. I'd pay it ASAP, IMO.

Just contacted 1 & 1 and they tell me in fact that NCO does still have the account and they are responsible for payment. The account number that 1 & 1 gave me is the one that matches the letter I received from NCO. I'm not sure I want to contact NCO about it incase they closed the account in error. Anyone have any advice?

A little more madness....

I got in touch with another person at 1 & 1 Internet per the letter above from NCO. They (1 & 1) state they cannot accept payment because the account is still with NCO, and NCO closed the accounts due to it being "disputed". However, I sent a PFD and never technically disputed anything. The letter from NCO doesn't say anything about a dispute. 1 & 1 said the only way I can pay it is to drop the dispute through the 1 & 1 office for NCO and then I could pay NCO. The supervisor asked me if I wanted to do this and I stated "NO". Does this make sense to anyone? What should my next step be?

Would be just sitting tight and see what happens be the best course of action for this? I don't want to call NCO again incase they deleted by mistake, and if I raise the issue up too much with the OC, they might contact NCO to fix it.
