I would talk to the county again and explain what happened. I'm sure they can compel the CA to go away. Or send another DV. Because they didn't verify the first time, you have them on a technical violation for reporting after receipt of your DV but before they verified. The second DV should reference the first. Or do both. Either way, I bet, they'll go away.

During routine daily check of reports (CCT), collection from AllianceOne appeared (on Experian only) on report mid-August (2009) - hitting the dispute tab showed it was originally a parking ticket from the county we used to live in, and was definitely ours.

Dunning letter arrived later on the same day it appeared on report.

Dunning letter instructed you to make payment to the county within 10 days to avoid "further collection measures"

DH called and paid the county the next day ($183, 8/21/09) - while on the phone he spoke to a superviser who said they would pull it back from collections.

By 8/28/09 it was still not deleted, still reporting as an unpaid collection, so I called the county. The lady confirmed it had been paid, and when I asked if it had been pulled back from collections, she looked on the computer and said "Allianceone doesn't have it". She also told me that the county only reports to CRAs once a week and things can take a while.

Sent DV to AllianceOne on 8/31/09 as it was still on report, still showing as unpaid, CMRRR was signed for on 9/3/09.

9/1/01 the status on report changed to paid - but it was still there. I'm assuming this was just an automatic update, as the DV didn't reach them until after this date.

9/21/09 I happened to look under the dispute tab on CCT and this collection was there highlighted in yellow as "under dispute" with a resolve date of 10/14/09. This was a result of the DV, right?

10/9/09 same collection suddenly appeared on TU showing as paid.

10/12/09 Experian deleted the collection!

OK, so this result was because of the DV, right? When I DVed it was still showing as unpaid even though it had been paid. But why would it appear on TU all of a sudden, 2 months after it had been paid? And if "Allianceone didn't have it" as the lady at the county said, why would it show up like this? And I can't DV again, can I - because it is a paid collection now.

What should I do? Talk to the County again? Just GW it? It's such a major battle to get anything off our EX, they continue to report for us even when it is illegal to do so - but this TU thing has spooiled it!

Ugh, I wish I'd waited for your response. I did some google digging and came up with an email addy for someone at Alliance One who seemed responsive to GWs and sent one off.

But you're right - they never did validate.

Maybe I should just DV again for the hell of it - I mean, what can they do.
