How Long Does it Take for Something to be Deleted

I sent a PFD letter to a CA & they agreed. I mailed them a payment & they sent a letter back saying they would submity they account for deletion. This was over 30 days ago. It will be 45 days on 11/26. Can anyone advise how long it has taken to see an update on your records?

New information can be sent to the CRA's within minutes of submitting the Universal Data Form via eOscar. EX is always the first to reflect the changes. If you haven't received an update on your EX report, the CA must not have submitted the form. Also keep in mind that CRA's are not obligated to delete a negative tradeline that is accurate. I'd give it 60 days (two more weeks), and then kindly send them a letter reminding them of their promise to delete.

I got the CA to delete before paying them a single dime. How did I do it? I hounded them with letters every 2 weeks and also filed a dispute through their local branch of the Better Business Bureau. I explained to them (in writing) that I need written confirmation from them agreeing to the terms and conditions I laid out and that it was non-negotiable. After approximately 9 months of writing the letters and the first complaint filed with the BBB, they wrote me a letter telling me that they were deleting the trade line in my credit files, permanently. They also enclosed a copy of the Universal Data Form that they submitted via eOscar to delete the account.

Bottom line is that the trade line in my credit files were deleted before I ever got the letter from them. It's that simple for them to simply email or fax the UDF via eOscar. It certainly doesn't take 30, 45 or 60 days. Unfortunately, CA's lie to people all the time and I hope this isn't the case for you.

The CRA is obligated to delete if the "subscriber" orders the deletion. The CRA's are not allowed to report anything other than what is reported by the subscriber (other than your statement and notation of dispute). This is why a dispute is sent for "verification" to the subscriber (aka: reporting CA or creditor). If the subscriber fails to respond, the item is deleted by default. If the subscriber responds, the CRA updates with that response, including an update to delete. Otherwise the CRA is reporting "inaccurate" information and can be sued, because the CRA doesn't know what the account status or history is, except by what is reported and must accept updates or delete.

It's my understanding the account was accurate, and the OP is just wanting it deleted after paying. CRA's are not obligated to remove tradelines just because the customer paid the balance. I have my source from a creditor explaining it. I posted it a while back.

It is creditor who is holding up the process, I just had a collection account deleted I contated the CEO of the company in the late afternoon, I checked my cr the next morning and it was removed less than 24 hours. If I was Dimitri I would not wait and I would contact this creditor as it was mention the account would be deleted and get a hold of the top executive of the company if you have to.

IrishPM: Could you give an example of the letters you sent the CA requesting they put something in writing BEFORE any payment would be made? I also would like to hound a CA I'm having issues with -- they absolutely refuse to put anything in writing.

I sent the collection agency a standard pfd letter that I pulled from here, advising that I would agree to pay in full if they agreed to delete it. They sent something back saying upon payment it would be deleted. Once I paid it, I received another letter advising it could take up to 45 days. It' my understanding that this would just delete any history of me owing the collection agency & not the original credit correct? In any event I just want it deleted & I will be calling them shortly.

Only the CA would be deleted. You would need to negotiate with the OC to delete as well.
