Your FTC complaint was most probably a waste of time. There is no provision of the FDCPA that requires a CA to ever respond to a DV letter.

All that FDCPA 809 basically does is to prevent them from conducting further collection activity until, and if, they choose to respond. The FTC has no apparent basis for enforcement of a violation of the FDCPA.

If it is Verizon acct, it is most probably a telecomm debt, which has a federally mandated SOL of two years. So you may have shelter against legal action, but that is separate from credit reporting.

If you want it removed from your CR, then I suggest a PFD offer to Midland.

I have an old verizon acct that was sold to Midland. I dv Midland several months ago, and never heard anything back. What do I do now? They are on my credit report now. I issued a complaint to FTC. Other than that should I be doing something else?
