Would it be a reasonable argument to dispute a CA trade line with the CRA, when the OC got paid off directly and completely. In other words, I have never dealt with the CA. OC accepted my payments without argument. Thanks for all of your collective wisdom !!

Yes, it was already placed with the CA, and it is realtively new. Less than a year old.

Is it showing paid or unpaid?

Legally they can report since it went to collections before you paid the OC. But since you paid the OC you can send them a DV letter and they may not have records any longer.

It is a medical issue. The CA is called Ernst Artmann & Associates (Orange County Calif). I visited the OC in person last year. They said: "too late, we already hired the CA". Also, I purposely overpaid them by about $25.00, just to see if I would ever get any change back. Before I decide if and when to blast 'em, I need evidence. Also, while we're going, I have tried in the recent past to find out about this CA here on Myfico (and on the Internet), and nobody seems to know anything about them, whether they are PFD friendly, or anything else. The only info I could find was on a local BBB site. Only minor complaints, nothing big.
