Anyone have a Wii Fit?

Any tips for someone who is sadly out of shape (but not too overweight)?

DW's Wii Fit arrived this week. She goes to the gym 3-5x per week, walks/jogs/lifts a little, does yoga, etc. Despite that, she's sore after just the first use. Maybe I should use it too.

My advice? Have fun with it! I love the aerobics -- and no, I've never loved working out before in my life!!! I was a competitive swimmer for over 10 years, so my only love of exercise occurs when I'm in a pool.

I swear, those little clapping Miis in the audience are a great ego boost during the "Sweat Aerobics!". The training mode is okay, but I'd suggest a lot of practice with that stuff. I don't do well w/ the yoga training because any time I get down on the floor my dog thinks it's playtime.

Plus, it's freakishly rewarding when you 'earn' fit minutes! ChaCHING!

sweet! i'm glad to hear you like it a lot! this is going to be my main form of exercise, so i'm really hoping i can find a routine that will work for me. i just have to be careful, because i have a bad back, so i don't want to hurt myself.

my little mii is probably going to be a little rounder than i want! ha ha! better get it in shape!

i wonder if i have to buy one of those little yoga mats they sell?

Therapy has several of them at work...we use them to help people recovering from things like car accidents etc. OMG they are so much fun and they really do help get you back into shape. I want one for the house!!!

Heck no! I've used the board on hardwoods and carpet -- never on a mat.

And yes, my Mii is a little rounder than I would like for her to be.

i have heard that using it on carpet can cause the readings to be off......i dunno!

LOL -- I hear ya. At least my mii doesn't roll down the hill when I'm skiing! (But it's definitely a fear!)

I didn't think about the yoga mat for me. I have one -- might be a good idea to get it out if I take an interest in yoga. I'll try to do an experiment for the carpet vs hard floors thing.

I just connected my wii to the internet last night. Peas' Mii is going global!

My wife wants the Wii Fit and I was reading that on carpet you don't get an accurate reading. If you have carpet get a solid board to place under it.

The way it works is by measuring the pressure you are putting on it in certain areas and carpet can make that difficult from what I hear.

We have a wiifit, and my mii is pretty round also

Although we've used it a few times, a little while ago we got a game that we get lot's more exercise from, and you can use the board with it (although it's a little weird)

The game is called Raving Rabbids TV Party, and it has several "dance contest" type games that are just a blast for more than one person (or even one). You need a nunchuck and wiimote for each player. Really gets the blood circulating, and lots of laughs. Mainly older type music (80's maybe) which is right up my alley anyway.

So, just thought I'd mention it, we really had fun with it over the holidays, so far it's been enjoyable for ages 3 to 56, lol

I want the wii fit. I have looked everywhere for it. We have DDR and I love it. I was walking 2 miles a day and when I started DDR I really knew what getting in shape was. I dance on the workout for abt 1 hr 15 mins a day. I absolutely love it. Good Luck all Vicki

i may have to look into that! at least i can do it at home, where people are spared from watching me try to dance!

Great thread! You read my mind. I've been thinking about getting WiiFit for months now. My son barely uses his Wii anymore and I'm planning to "borrow" it from him. This sounds like so much more fun than the elliptical machine in my room.

Where's the best place to get the Wii Fit? Do you need to buy extra "stuff" to go with it or does it come with everything you need?

LOL -- My elliptical machine is in the garage. When I moved I just couldn't bring myself to move it inside.

I pre-ordered the basic Wii Fit from Amazon. It came with everything I've needed so far (board, game disc and manuals). I know they're selling a bunch of accessories for it now, but I've never had to purchase anything else. (Well, I'm planning on getting the Rabbids TV game to use with it, lol.) I'm not sure where the best place to get one is, but I have seen them at Target and Best Buy whenever they've had them in their Sunday ads. If you go thru Amazon, you can enter your cell number and they'll send you a text when they're in stock. Hope that helps!

I'm thinking we should have a Fico Hula Hoop competition! (Yeah, I'll admit, that's because I'm ranked as a CALORIE INCINERATOR on there! LOL!)

Thanks WPP! I can't wait. I used to be terribly addicted to Zelda back in the day. I hope it's not too hard to peel myself away from the machine.

I called DH & told him I ordered Wii Fit. He asked me if I still plan to use the elliptical machine. Somehow I'm thinking - NO. * * insert evil maniacal laughter here * *

I want a wii fit so bad! I got the wii for Christmas and my fiancee and I love playing the sports games on it. Maybe I can convince him to get me the wii fit for Valentine's Day!! It sure looks more fun than the elliptical I have sitting in the corner collecting dust!
