So far, so good.

Food is fabulous. Hotel is fabulous. Work is so far so good. Weather is miserable

I grew up in Wisconsin, not exactly a Sunbelt State. When I was a teenager, my father was a Visiting Professor in Nottingham. One day in early December, after what had seemed to me a very dismal November, the local paper had a front page story: November had been the sunniest November on record!

Well, Belgium has been gray and wet. But as I am inside most of the time, no sweat.

And I ate in a converted monastry last night!

Travel safe, MV, and do please say hi to Perfidious Albion for me - haven't visited in a couple of years, and I do miss it; it's one of my favorite relief-from-the-infernal-desert destinations. Rain is a novelty, for me, after so many years here in AZ, so I don't mind the often wet weather there!

Scamp I love the rain too, people tell me I am crazy but I do. I live in CA and although not exactly a super hot destination as Arizona, where my aunt lives too, but with the recent drought we don't get much rain so when we do I love it but many still complain

Tomorrow I catch a train and then fly to Heathrow. Driving will be fun - I hope the bloody GPS works

Well try and take it easy and have a safe trip, hopefully the GPS works and doesn't give you any trouble.

Should be interesting to see if you remember how to drive on the left side of the road. Lots of potential for embarrassment here...

Funny you say that, when I visited my cousin in London a few years back, he was toasted and I offered to drive and he told me, you sure you can do it on the wrong side of the road? I don't want to get pulled over. I told him, I will be just fine, I "HAVE" travelled as part of my corp service and I know how to do it just fine, then he says "you can drive a stick, right?" and I didn't know if I should pitty him for being wasted or smack him but the proof was in the putting if you will, got him home just fine and everyone was impressed. All this to say, that its like riding a bike, you never forget *crossing fingers just in case*

Very true, but a lot of Continental and US pedestrians get some good scares stepping out into the road after looking in the wrong direction.

I think the adventure in driving would occur when making turns, especially left turns. I could really see whipping your car into the oncoming traffic!
