Oldies but Goodies....CANDY

Since the Easter bunny is almost upon us, I visited our local B.A. Sweetie Candy Company. If the candy is currently being made, they have it.

I stumbled upon so many candies that I loved as a child. Remember those *flying saucer* candies in the pastel colors? The little candy beads that were attached to that long paper? Boston Baked Beans and Safety Pops!

What candy was your favorite as a *kid*?

Looking back now I can't believe they ever sold those things. It certainly wouldn't fly nowdays. I also remember them. I remember walking down the road puffing on a candy cigarette and blowing out the powder like smoke. Those were my favorite. I also liked the giant jaw-breakers. You could suck on those for weeks and just put them in your pocket for later. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you guys remember the little bottles of flavored sodas? You could get lemon-lime, cherry, etc. I used to stop on my way home from school & pay .5 for a single reese cup & .10 for a soda.

I thought Whatchamacallits were no more until a clerk at a Walgreens offered me one the other day. Used to get one every Easter morning as a kid.

I bought a box of chocolate cigars at Christmas time. Thought it would be perfect after a book club meeting with the girls to pull out the after dinner drinks and the cigars. Haven't done it yet.

Remember the giant sweetarts...would suck/lick on them till my toungue would start bleeding.

Still relatively easy to find - Abba Zabbas...yum.

Ice Cubes....real melty hazelnutty flavored small chocolate thing... one store I know in Salinas still sells them, something like 45 cents, I think they were 1 or 2 cents.

I remember a time when I would only chew Fruit Stripe Gum....we used to make *chains* out of the striped wrappers. Those times were sure good!

Those were called Nik-L-Nips. I really enjoyed them.

I loved Clark bars.

I always hated Fizzies.

What about Bottlecaps? Do they still make them. Looking back that was the grossest tasting chalk candy ive ever had. I seem to remember Coca Cola making them as well.

We made picture frames out of them, kind of a herringbone weave. Probably couldn't do it now but killed hours doing stuff like that as a kid. Before we had COMPUTERS.

Sugar Babies.....My Mom haved those but the dentist loved them, nothing will pull a filling quicker.

Wow, thanks everyone for all the great memories in this thread! I had totally forgotten about a lot of these since I haven't had much of a sweet tooth in decades!

Brach's butterscotch disks and peppermints, candy corn, and Hershey's Kisses have especially fond memories for me because my great-grandparents always had them in a dish on their coffee table. Milk Duds, Junior Mints, and Whoppers always remind me of going to the movies.
