The UK version Mars did not have nuts, but the American ones did.

I remember when I lived in Germany and getting excited because they still sold them there...and then there were no almonds

Strange history Mars. American for decades, then the black sheep of the family went to UK and set up the UK branch just outside London. I think he was the one that produced the first Mars bar. But like most companies, they produce items to suit local tastes.
