Has anyone considered upgrading their current Ipad for the soon to be released Ipad3?

I have the Ipad2 right now but can't really see myself getting the latest. But, seeing one in person might change that! I lub muh Ipad.

I love Macs, but I am not sure what I could do with an iPad that I can't do with my iPhone and Macbook Air And I need to take my computer with me wherever I go. And I would need yet another data package from AT&T, and free WiFi ain't to common in the places I visit!

I love Macs too, I am typing this on my Macbook Pro right now. But, I refuse to get any iDevice other than my 6-year-old iPod Classic (maybe an iMac). I have an android phone (Droid Bionic) and a Nook Tablet. My personal opinion is that Apple's portable iDevices are overpriced and too locked-down.

Of course, I'm a bit of a technophile... I want my devices to do what I want them to do without worrying about the Apple mafia trying to "re-lock" or brick them every couple of months.

On the other hand, if I were a 50-80 year old grandmother/father, who just wanted their phone to work, had unlimited funds, and had no clue that the iProducts were restricted, then yeah, I'd probably get something Apple. Even I have to admit they are really easy to use. Back on the orignal hand, my mother is 70 and she's running a droid and loves it.

I was never really impressed with the iPad. I have an iPad for work but I also own a Toshiba Thrive tablet and I absolutely love it. The iPad just doesn't do it for me.

Had the ipad 1 and currently have the xoom 4G. Neither of them do anything for me other than provide a movie experience, when coupled with my Bose QC15s, while on planes.

In fact, I think I'll unload the xoom when my contract is up the 25th of this month. They lost their value immediately, so I'm only likely to break even on eBay when I go to sell it.

I have the generation 1 iPad and much like my AMEX, I "never leave home without it". Though, I have only had the AMEX 1.5 days so never leaving home without it is not impressive. It's really just a tool of convenience and it's handy when you are stuck in a waiting room--no, correction, it's a lifesaver when you are stuck in a waiting room. If you have an iPad 2, it's not worth it to resell your old iPad to buy the new one. The only true improvement in my mind is the better glass, wait until the iPad 4 comes out or something before you decide to upgrade or expand your collection.

I bought my iPad2 in November and am completely satisfied with it. Apple needed to do something more drastic for me to want to replace it so soon.

I looked on the Apple Store refurb site, and they seem to be $200 lower across the board, measured by gigs. So $499 for the new one vs $299 for a similar iPad1, and so forth.

I have been trying to find a comparison between the iPad (3) and iPad 1, but I haven't found any. Just comparisons between iPads 1 and 2, and iPad 2 and iPad (3.)

I don't know that I'll bite (I certainly am not putting another gadget on a Verizon data plan), but if I were to get any iPad at all, not owning one now, I'd probably jump for the new one. That's kind of the handy thing about not owning a current version: I wouldn't have to dither about laying it aside to gather dust.

The problem is that since I have a MacBookPro 15 and an iPhone, I seem to have both overkill and underkill when it comes to a tablet. Maybe if I suddenly find myself flying on business trips once a week... But for now, it's all I can do to gulp down my coffee at a traffic light on my morning commute, much less have time to watch George Clooney via Retina.

Doooo eeettt. Normally I wouldn't promote reckless spending, but the iPad is maybe the best thing since someone invented green tea lattes. I never leave home without it (even though it's really heavy with it's case), it's endless hours of entertainment, you can actually do work and be productive if you are so inclined and the apps are phenomenal. Anything you can think of, there is probably an app for that. It will be a great get-out-of-debt present, you won't regret it. Oh, but factor in some more moolah for the case and/or screen protector.

+1 If it doesn't snap your eyes open first thing in the morning, it isn't real tea. My druthers for hot tea is Twinings English Breakfast Tea, and for iced tea, it's Luzianne, with Bigelow Plantation Mint tea for days when you need some mint going on.

BUT there used to be a great "tea" blend called Good Earth Sweet and Spicy non-caffeine herbal tea (not the organic version) that was wonderful. It had rooibos (redbush) tea and cinnamon and orange peel and rose hips and and and...

But the new version lists "natural flavors" as the second ingredient, and it's terrible, nothing like the original. Feh. The company was bought out, and out went the true recipe.

What will I do now when I have a bad cold? * whines *

I find it insulting that you think my green tea latte is on par with a fruit tea. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf actually brews my choice of green tea, which is made from tea leaves and mixes it with soy milk to make my latte. Perhaps you were confusing my statement with Starbucks, which uses a green tea powder and some sort of sugar liquid. This digresses from the original topic at hand, however.

The point stands, I think the ipad is as good as a drink that I find brilliant. Opinions may vary, but no need to insult someone.

It was not intended as an insult, more a joke Tea purists would insist that green tea contains green tea leaves and hot water, nothing else

My desktop Mac sits on the desktop at home, and the iPhone fits in my pocket. That's fine, but otherwise I don't like carrying stuff. Neither my hands nor my shoulders enjoy being crowded, and my mind is most at ease when peacefully focused and free of distractions.

When that's said, the iPad is a very smooth device, and I often stop by Apple stores on my way and check it out. I was even in downtown San Francisco for the new iPad release. And because all of the rumors, my Apple stock earnings are an iPad many times over.

Just pulled the trigger on a black 32Gb Wifi + 4G Verizon iPad. At first I didn't want to cough up the extra $130 for the option to go in via Verizon, but I could easily see a time when I was in a WiFi-less area and cussing myself out for not having the option of a backup. I plan to be on WiFi most of the time, though.

It was sort of a Goldilocks thing. My laptop is often too big, and my iPhone is definitely often too small (the forums are a nightmare), so I'm hoping an iPad will be just right.

Techno-overkill, to be sure.

Anyway, now I wait for UPS/FedEx, unless I can jump on a store order late tonight.

Oh, and I'm looking at a ZaggFolio keyboard case to go with it, because touchscreen keypads get old really fast. Anyone have any experiences and druthers?

Whoa, that's pretty cool-looking! Wish it came with a keyboard, though. I get tired of the boop-boop-boop of virtual keyboards.

Oh, and I was able to find a store within an hour of home that is supposed to have the type of iPad I want in today, so I canceled the shipped order and hope to get my sweaty hands on one this afternoon.
