Did you sell or trade in your last car?

This will be the 2nd car I have put on Craigslist in the last few years.

In the last 12 hours I have had 8 people email me on the car. I had thought about trading the car in until I saw the dealers only wanted to give me between 300-400 dollars.

I have mine listed for 1800 which is a few hundred below book value.

My last experience with craigslist was a disaster. I couldn't get people to show up and they wouldn't call to say they couldn't come. I had around 6 people contact me about the car and only 2 showed up. Lucky for me the lady that bought my car had the same car before she ran into a deer with it so she was set on it.

However I did take about 6 hours and totally detail the interior of the car. After I sold her the car she called me once a week with random stuff and then her boyfriend would call me too. He called me twice wanted to know what the part numbers on old napa receipts were from 2009!! I told him how should I know that was over 3 years ago.

If I could get more from the dealer I would do that but I need the extra money to pay down the principle of my newer car.

I've sold one car on ebay, it was easy. Asked for 1,400. Got 1,200.

I've brought cars on ebay. Always messed up a few weeks later. Bad experiences, lol.
