AMEX agrees: Coffee is medicinal

I was reviewing charges on my new card. I always get a coffee as the 'inaugural' charge.

Amex coded it as: Merchandise & Supplies: Pharmacies

I knew there was a reason I wanted this card.

Funny...my first purchase has traditionally been a case of beer...never shows up as pharmacies...although I've always considered it medicinal.

This gives me an idea...a card with cash back for alcohol. I'll call it TWELV3 ST3PS or maybe BURPAY. No travel bonus though. You get extra points if your singature is legible.

Amex has nothing to do with labeling it.... The merchant code that they are using is what is describing it....

I love the discounts on cab fares and transportation idea! We could have a byline in our newsletter called "So you're seeing in triplicate" or "The barf bag" Where you get homeopathic remedies for hangovers and referrals to attorneys for everything from SR-22's to divorce!

We could also have categorical rewards like specific beers stores or bars get 5% during Q1 and so on. Maybe 5% back on steam cleaning services and car wash services the next quarter. We have options. Its a regular public service, really.

Unfortunately I live in a state that only allows alcohol to be sold from a distributor or a state store. I can't even get grocery store spend...I like good beer too, $30-$40 a case that's alot of potential cash back. Always codes as general. Oh well.

Sounds like you need a card that offers discounts at moving companies!
