US Bank Cash+ , 2 Designs?

So I got my US Bank Cash+ in the mail and got the darker blue design as a Visa Signature. I thought the lighter blue card was for siggy and darker for non-siggy just from the pictures they have on their site. Anyone know the real difference between the two?

I have one of each design, both VS.
The lighter one is a PC from a Cash Rewards card
The darker designs was an app directly to Cash+
Neither designs was the original color scene for the card.

Whether that color match is the same for others, we will have to see.

They both swipe just the same, chip timing was a little different.

I have had this card for about 4 years. I remember receiving the light blue one once, but when I ordered a new card approx 2 years ago, they sent me the dark blue one. Personally, I like the dark blue one more. The lighter blue one is more similar to the original card. I also have a checking account with US Bank and they gave me an 18k credit limit. Not sure if that helps.

Edit: I ordered a new card. I will update with which version I receive.

Sounds good, Thank you. I just emailed US Bank about it and will post if they respond.

Update: Called a rep and she said that the dark blue is the platinum and the light blue is the signature (usually $5k limit). I then mentioned that my dark blue card had signature on it and she could not provide another answer. I don't blame her.

My CL is $5k so maybe they flipped a coin on me for design choice. haha

FWIW in late December I was approved for the Cash+, and my card came as the dark blue as well (and is a Signature).

I don't really care either way, but given a choice I do mildly prefer the dark blue.

I really prefer the light blue design as it reminds me of the original. My card expired at the end of January, and was reissued as the dark blue card. I am not a fan. Perhaps the rep is partially correct, and the designs were originally ment to distinguish product segments as the issuing of Signature line cards below 5k is relatively new from USBank.

I had the light blue card and really liked the design. Unfortunately, my card was compromised and I had to get a new account number. They sent it on the dark blue card. Ugh.

The card wore out and I asked for a replacement. Still dark blue.

Beauty is in the "eye of the beholder" A while back US Bank developed a new format recognizing their customer service and with that came a new state of the art card look ("The Power of Possible" branding campaign January 2016). The US Bank FlexPerks Travel Rewards still sits in an older format but, the US Bank Altititude is set as state of the art. Personally, I had the old format and like the new format where I do find the blue to blue

I had a Cash Rewards with SL $1500 and when I PC'ed it to the Cash Plus, it remained light blue. It is Platinum.

I then applied for the Cash Plus again. I got a Visa Sig this time. It came with the dark blue design.

The CS rep may have gotten the colors mixed up - maybe?

The difference I see is benefits. visa classic and visa signature. I think if your CL is more than $5k, you are qualified for visa Signature benefits. I’m guessing. Coz since 5 years I’m holding Chase freedom. When it’s arrived first time it had visa classic benefits and when I got CL to $5k I received email saying you are now have visa signature benefits.

As has been posted around the MyFico site on numerous occassions ... the Visa Signature designation is based on the lenders preferences. Some lenders use the $5K requirement for Signature benefits and others use $500. US Bank switched to the darker blue cards and the $500 CL designation on it's Cash+ awhile back (2016 new marketing campaign but only replaced the lighter blue Cash+ cards as they come up for renewal or new accounts - US Bank issues cards on a three year rotation). The whole $5K designation for Visa Signature and MasterCard World Elite and World MasterCards was virtually eliminated and turned over to the lenders clear back to 2015. Citi Bank lead the way on approving lower limit cards with the higher level benefits many years back (by special permission). Many lenders have eliminated the flexible credit limits (No Pre-Set Credit Limit) clear back to August 2015 when Visa and MasterCard eliminated the must have requirement. One lender stated it was to risky to offer flexible spending limits in today's market place (believe what you will - an excuse from where I sit). Citi, US Bank, Chase and many others still offer some cards with the revolving flexible spending limits (if any one really cares?).

Interesting comment on flexible spending (NPSL) cards is if you close the month at statement cutoff and are over your revolving credit limit .... how bad does it affect the Fico or Vantage Scores? Suspect there would be a negative hit to one's scores for sure. Food for thought!
