Hey guys, I know this isn't a car forum or anything like that and I know most of us specialize in credit cards lol but anyway, I want to talk about cars cause that's what we use in our daily lives unless if you're working from home and use public transportation lol but anyway so I know a lot of you guys have gas credit cards or whatnot.

Personally for me when it comes to gas, I use Chevron, Mobil and if I can't find those 2 then I go to Shell. Only those 3, nothing else. But anyway, do you guys use any addictives? Not talking about the white powder lol... Talking about as far as gas.

I heard techron is the king when it comes to fuel cleaner, but when you use chevron a lot, really no need to buy it unless you use those cheap or no brand gas, I want to know if anybody have use a fuel stabilizer like startron before? Thanks!

I don't add anything to my car. I've found no need or benefit to using them. Almost all name brand gas are top tier so they already have more detergent that what the government requires.

Thanks!

I work from home, use public transportation, and own a car, so I do drive though not frequently. Usually a weekend road trip or some errands out in the burbs. Rest of the time it's parked on a street somewhere, collecting dirt and bird crap.

I put 93 octane gas in my car since that's the manufacturer recommendation, but beyond that I don't care what brand. I don't use additives or really even do anything other than scheduled maintenance and it runs ok. My car isn't nearly valuable or high performance enough to care about that sort of TLC. I can't even be bothered to wash it except once or twice a year, and that's usually when the dealership does it for me with the scheduled maintenance.

I don’t add anything—I suppose I should say that I don’t have THE MECHANIC add anything lol. As for gas, I’m not loyal to any one brand/station but I use only premium. Oil change every 3k, constantly cleaning/washing it, aaaaand I don’t know what else to add....

Hey iced, even tho you put a higher premium gas fuel to your car, unless you car is really brand new, it wouldn't help. I would stick to the what it says on the cap or on the owners manual for the recommendation, but yeah at the same time you're blowing more money than what is needed lol.

I don't really be cleaning my car either lol I just do the regular maintenance too but I just bought this software where it would help me with my car running better so I will look into it more. Lol, the dealership gave you a1 service aha.

BMW's are known to suffer a bit with lower octane gas, and it doesn't help that the US already sells significantly lower octane fuel than Europe does.

The additives do not really up the points in your fuel as some would think. If you car is tuned for 91/93 use that fuel. If doesn't state either, then usually 85/87 is the go to, depending on your area. I've had stock beaters all the way to my current build, that should be making north of 1500rwhp. Shell, Chevron, Exxon are my go tos when it comes to gas, unless I need higher octane. Then i'll find whoever has E85. So, back to your question, don't mess with the additives. Either get higher octane fuel to begin with (wont do anything if youre not tuned for it) or leave it alone.

Hope that helps some.

It reduces the chances of premature or additional ignition, which you've probably heard of as pinging. If when you use regular and you hear pinging, you need to move to a higher octane.

In the case of my Mazda, it's designed to run on regular, but because it has a 13:1 compression ratio, I will actually see a power gain, and possible better fuel efficiency, from going to premium as the gas will ignite more efficiently and with more power.

I should note that not all cars will see a gain in power by switching to premium. Some cars, like Nissan's, recommend it for better fuel economy.

After a battery replacement, what's the minimum distance to drive to be sure my car's catalytic converter passes a CA smog check?

The only "additive" ive ever used is seafoam. But i put it through the intake rather than adding it to the fuel. My goodness the smoke cloud i got was marvelous im surprised no one called the fire department haha. So long carbon build up!

@WasCB14

Hey bro, I'm not even sure what a catalytic converter is lol. But, I would say check the owners manual that's the best bet, or download this software that I have it's called automotive wolf and also I use Carfax app too. But, you could also use Google lol.
