Call me crazy but this is what happens when I'm bored. Had the day off today and got our washer and dryer delivered. I installed them and it was 10am. Was going crazy as I'm not used to having the day off. Decided to do this. Still not done with it. Going to sand it a little better and thinking of heating it to get some nice coloring to the titanium. I'm thinking this might not be 100% titanium though. Seems a little too heavy to be 100%. Anyways card still works

I'm getting there. Been sanding the last 3 hours. Left off at 400 grit. Just like 100 degrees here and needed a break.

What does a sticker do?

Is there a plastic version of this card? That would be a lot more desirable.

I can't even imagine how many wallets wear out prematurely due to the hard edges of these metal cards.

@CV91915 because the apple card scratches so easy, there's a market for card covers to protect it. One of those options is stickers that cover the whole thing

For what share of transactions are people using Apple Pay vs. the physical card?

Looks fun, but how much abuse can the chip take via sanding? Is there some danger of damaging the point where the EMV reader makes contact? Or the idea is that you might as well have fun since you only use it on your phone?

I see, thanks for explaining.

All of my cards are scratched, even the ones that never leave the house. Not sure why anyone cares.

I just looked closely at the rewards structure on this card for the first time. It's really awful compared to my existing cards. Not sure why this has any appeal to anyone who can do math.

To answer a few questions. Basically I tried a few different ways to do this. First step was dipping one side in goo-gone. That ended up taking the magnetic strip off but the paint was still there. I then tried sanding with a block. That was working but honestly taking forever.

last step I did and worked the best was using an exacto knife. Was able to basically slice the paint off. This allowed me to remove the paint around the chip perfectly. If I would have tried this method first I would have been able to still have the magnetic strip.

after getting all the paint off I started sanding with the fine sans paper. While doing this I kept my thumb over the chip so there was never a time I was sanding the chip.

Hace used the card a few times now in the chip readers and has worked perfectly.

I since ordered a replacement card and this time I will still have the magnetic strip.

personally I like the look of the card better now instead of the white. Of course it's all preference.
